 Description
The seller of this 1966 Ford F-250 Camper Special is 87, and says he's selling it mostly because of his age and the fact that he doesn't drive it any longer. He's owned the truck since 1976, and says he's kept detailed service records since that time. The truck features an overhauled 428-cu.in. V-8 and other updates to make it a better hauler on the road, and includes a matching trailer made from a 1966 Ford F-Series. The truck was originally equipped with a 390, but in 2000, the seller opted for a 428-cu.in. OHV V-8 with headers, an aluminum intake, and a four-barrel carburetor. The engine was overhauled in 2010. - that the engine has a manual choke and fires up instantly, with no smoke. The engine is paired with a four-speed manual transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive.- that the transmission shifts like a charm, with no noise or vibration, and that the overdrive functions well. The rear axle is a Dana 60 that drives dual rear wheels on each side via an Arrowcraft adaptor kit. - there are no leaks from the engine, transmission, or rear differential.- that the truck was repainted Rangoon Red and Wimbledon White in August 2003, and that the paint has held up with no blemishes. - the truck is always stored indoors when not in use. The photos show that the body, paint, and chrome details appear to be in excellent condition, with no visible damage. The interior of the all-steel bed appears to have been painted to match the exterior, and looks to have limited damage from use. The truck has steel Arrowcraft aftermarket fender flares for the dual rear wheels, a sliding rear window, and accessory mirrors, along with a storage area on the side of the bed. The painted rear bumper has a Class III hitch receiver mounted underneath. - Custom Cab F-Series pickups from 1966 featured the woven plastic seat fabric in this truck, and it appears to be in excellent condition, with no rips or damage. The floor is protected by a black rubber mat that appears to be in good condition. The ceiling is covered with a white perforated headliner, which appears to have no significant stains or damage visible in photos. The doors are steel and painted Wimbledon white, with red vinyl inserts around the window and door levers. The armrests appear to be undamaged. The dash has a pad, which is protected by a carpeted mat, and there is no visible damage in the photos. The metal portions are painted Rangoon Red, and the instrument cluster has the original engine-turned finish. All of the stock gauges are present, but the seller has added an auxiliary oil pressure gauge, and a tachometer, along with a trailer brake controller.- that all the gauges work. The dash appears to have its original AM radio in place, but functionality is not reported. - I have provided several photos of the undercarriage, which show the chassis as apparently clean and free of significant corrosion. - that the steering is manual, and there is no play in the wheel. - the suspension has received lubrication service every 1,500 miles during his ownership. The shocks up front are coilovers, and that the suspension works properly. The brakes feature a dual-circuit master cylinder and power booster, and function properly . The truck is equipped with an Arrowcraft dual rear wheel setup, called out by a placard in place near the body data plate. The truck has six steel wheels painted gray and mounted with Cooper Discoverer H/T tires, sized 215/85R16. - that the tires were replaced in 2012, and have plenty of tread remaining. The truck is also transferred with the matching trailer constructed of a 1966 Ford pickup bed with a one-ton axle underneath. Additional paperwork includes a complete log of maintenance from 1976 to date. The seller is also including a trove of spare parts, including a -nice- 390 engine, two four-speed transmissions, a -perfect- original grille, eight doors, several front fenders, windshields, steering boxes, -and more. This is a heavy-duty pickup that he has enjoyed for years with a slide-in camper in the back. This 1966 Ford F-250 Camper Special seems as if it would be a great vintage race-car hauler, or a perfect camping partner for your next fishing weekend.
