This 1956 Fiberfab Speedster Replica, inspired by the Porsche 356 Speedster from the 1950s, is reportedly the result of a four-year build undertaken in 2018 by a restoration shop in western Michigan. The seller purchased the Fiberfab-based Speedster in 2020 and describes it as definitely a head turner at shows and during street cruising. The Speedster's powertrain now consists of an enlarged, high-performance Volkswagen engine and an aftermarket performance transmission. The Speedster has been made into a roadster, with no top or mounting hardware, and is described as having no rust. This Speedster is fitted with a 1,904cc performance Volkswagen engine of undislosed output built by GEX International of Booneville, Arkansas. The engine is reportedly built from new parts, including Bosch electrical components, and receives its fuel mixture via two 40mm carburetors with performance air cleaners.- the engine is fitted with 041 big-valve cylinder heads. Other components reportedly include a Mahle piston kit, an eight-dowel crankshaft and flywheel.- a normal startup without smoke. The GEX-source Pro Street transmission is said to shift smoothly.
