1979 International Scout Terra 4x4

Designed to capitalize on the success of International Harvester's original, diminutive Scout, the upmarket Scout II was designed in the 1960s and was produced from 1971 through 1980. This 1979 International Harvester Scout Terra 4x4 represents a refurbished example and was reportedly purchased from a dealer who specializes in vintage Scouts and Ford Broncos.- that the Scout Terra runs well after undergoing considerable mechanical refurbishment, including a rebuild of its automatic transmission. He calls it, -for the most part, my daily driver.- Said to retain its original engine, the Scout is said to have no visible exterior rust after apparently undergoing past rust repairs. The vehicle will be sold with a factory hardtop and two soft tops, one being a spare. This Scout Terra is powered by International's 345-cu.in. OHV V8. With a compression ratio of 8.05:1, the engine received its fuel mixture via a Carter Thermoquad four-barrel carburetor and was rated by the manufacturer at 148 horsepower when new, with 265 lb-ft of torque. This Scout's engine is reported to be original to the vehicle, with no stated rebuild history. The engine is said to start immediately every time, without smoke. - no issues with the rebuilt TorqueFilte automatic transmission or two-speed transfer case, and states that the front driveline was completely overhauled. Among the engine maintenance items reported are a new Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, new starter, new wiring harness, new belts, and new gaskets. Any powertrain leaks have reportedly been remedied. The engine bay presents as stock and generally clean. The Scout wears an earlier repaint in blue that is described as good, with no reported swirls, and blemishes said to be one spot needing a possible touch-up (original paint for touch-ups is included). The original hardtop is reported to fit well, with no leaks. No issues with the soft top are noted. The body seals are described as being effective. - there is no visible rust to the exterior, noting past rust repairs and more recent underside treatment, reporting that any corrosion is minimal. The cargo area appears to be in good shape and the Scout Terra has LED-style brush lights above the windshield. The glass is described as free of chips and scratches. All lights reportedly work. The underside presents as generally clean, with light surface corrosion visible in spots - The interior facings were reportedly redone by a previous owner three years ago, with the seller reporting an apparent crack to one interior door panel and the windshield frame. The power front disc/rear drum brakes are reported to be new, with a new brake booster and no issues.
