Description

The selling dealer states that the car encapsulates everything that is great about a classic woodie, comprehensively updated for performance, reliability and comfort. - the car was single-family owned from 1940 until it was sold to the previous owner and restorer in 2016. A full frame-off restoration, completed in 2018, included a modern powertrain. This very strongly presenting Oldsmobile has since won multiple show awards and has been featured in the National Woodie Club publication. - the modern engine that powers this woodie is a GM Vortec 350-cu.in. OHV V8 crate motor with 900 miles since the build. No power figures are provided, although the dealer writes: Modest upgrades provide plenty of passing power and a relaxed cruise on the highway. The three-speed automatic transmission is identified as a GM Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 with a column shifter. The dealer describes cold starts as made with one pump to the floor and a turn of the key and an easy idle. The transmission is said to shift smoothly. The dealer identifies that the the metal panels remain largely original and that the wood is 90% original, noting that both the metal body and wood were completely disassembled, refinished, and reassembled during the restoration. The exterior is described as very nice, painted with 3-stage PPG Blue Gray. All the chrome and stainless-steel trim was also refinished. No rust or blemishes are reported. All glass, seals, and lighting are said to be in very good or new condition. The interior was redone to original factory specifications and described as excellent in the dealer's words, including the refinished interior wood and use of the correct-grain brown vinyl seat material. All interior trim is also described as complete and operating properly. All gauges in the original dashboard are said to be functional. Modern touches include the tilt steering column, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Vintage Air air conditioning, and Boss stereo hidden in the glove box that sounds amazing, . Additional insulation was laid before installing new German square-weave wool carpet and mats. - The undercarriage, suspension, and brakes all present as new, as seen in the photos. Upgrades according to the dealer include rack-and-pinion steering, a Mustang II front end with independent suspension and power disc brakes, a Ford 8-inch differential and four-link mounts, and two-way adjustable coilover shocks on all four corners. No steering play is reported. The suspension service, bushings, and shocks are all reported as new. The painted steel wheels and trim present strongly, with no observed blemishes. Goodyear Classic Custom Super Cushion wide-whitewall tires are described as new in 2018, with full tread, and the DOT date codes appear to confirm this.
