Description
Long-term ownership of vintage vehicles can provide certain benefits to subsequent buyers. Case in point is this 1975 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible, which he purchased in the early 1980s and that it has never been in an accident. He had a body-off restoration performed about 30 years ago, and has since only driven the drop-top sports car about 5,000 miles. Just as important, he's stored it under a car cover in a heated garage when not in use, which has admirably preserved the work that was completed so long ago. The 350-cu.in. four-barrel V-8 with High Energy Ignition was rated 165-net-horsepower and is believed to be the original engine. It was rebuilt to stock specifications back during the restoration, the seller notes, and it's still running very well. Just a pump of the gas pedal and a turn of the key to start it and there's no blue smoke. However, from sitting, there's a little motor oil leaking between the engine and transmission. The four-speed manual transmission and the rear differential were examined at the time of the restoration and their fluids were changed, but rebuilds were deemed unnecessary. - the transmission still shifts well. Though the Corvette was repainted three decades ago, its Classic White finish is said to still be in great shape, but there is one chip in the convertible lid by the driver's door that is less than 3/16-inch around.- the windshield was replaced, but the remaining glass is original and in good condition, with no scratches. - the soft-top and heater work very well, and there are no leaks. - the seat upholstery, carpet, and mats, and the convertible top were replaced during the restoration and are also in great shape, and the instrument panel and door panels are as original. All the gauges and the radio reportedly work, the antenna is not on the Corvette in the photos as it's easier to put the car cover on without it. - Though the tires retain their full remaining tread, they, too, are 30 years old, and he recommends they be replaced if the car will be driven any speed or distance. The coil-spring-front and transverse-leaf-rear suspension was rebuilt when the Corvette was restored. - the power steering was added during the restoration and doesn't leak, there's no play in the system, and the bushings and shocks are all good, as are the four-wheel disc brakes. Additional paperwork includes restoration documentation, a dealer brochure, enthusiast books, and more literature.
