All gaskets and seals were reportedly replaced during the restoration, and the seller has observed no water leaks to the interior. The Custom series was powered by De Soto's 237-cu.in. L-head straight-six. With a compression ratio of 6.6:1 and a single downdraft carburetor, the engine was rated by the manufacturer at 109 horsepower when new. The seller does not know whether this car's engine is original, and its rebuild history is unknown. The seller observes no smoke on startup and reports easier starts with an electric fuel pump fitted.
