 Description
A 1932 DeSoto coupe street rod isn't something you see every day, but when it's a bright yellow metallic one with a chopped top like this one, it's something memorable. This DeSoto was first restored in 1959, who is representing the car for a friend, its current owner, who bought it in 1975. Even though the car is a two-seater coupe, it accommodates four passengers thanks to the rarely seen rumble seat. The seller adds that this 1932 DeSoto is 100-percent street legal and can be driven anywhere. The engine is a Chevy 283-cu.in. small-block V-8 that was rebuilt in 1979. The engine was balanced and bored .030-inch over at that time. It has an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock valve covers, MSD ignition components, and block hugger exhaust headers, plus a manual choke and an electric fuel pump for cold starts. N choke is required when the engine is warm,- there is no smoke from the exhaust. The GM Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 three-speed automatic transmission works as it should, , and he reports no leaks from either the engine or transmission. This 1932 DeSoto street rod is tough to miss with its bright metallic yellow paint, which the seller rates as a 9 out of 10, with no apparent swirls, dents, or dings. There appears to be a small scratch near the left rear taillight, a small crack on the driver's-side roofline, and a small chip at the driver's window channel. - a small fender bender at a car show two years ago required professional care for the left front fender. The sleek profile of this DeSoto coupe had been enhanced by a 3-inch chop. The roof has been filled and a custom mural adorns the rumble-seat lid. The suicide doors came that way from the factory. - any rust repairs were done prior to his purchase, and he adds that there is no body filler in any of the fenders and that all body components are steel. All the glass, seals, and lighting are reported as being in good shape, who adds that the car is garaged most of the time. - The interior was done 20 years ago, and the upholstery consists of light tan vinyl that the seller states is in good condition and the rumble seat was upholstered to match the interior. The carpet condition is rated as fair, . Additionally, the wooden dashboard is filled with six AutoMeter gauges, the bucket seats have 32 DeSoto embroidered in the headrests, the steering wheel has a wooden rim, and the Hurst floor shifter has a custom revolver shift handle. - The front suspension uses Mustang II rack-and-pinion components and the rear end is a Ford 9-inch unit with QA1 coilover shocks and parallel leaf springs. The car has four-wheel power disc brakes, and the brakes work as they should. - the steering feels very stable. Suspension components have received normal maintenance and lubrication. The tires are approximately 10 years old, but they look new. The aluminum wheels are from American Racing. This 1932 DeSoto coupe street rod is being sold because the owner is not able to enjoy the car as he did before, so it's time for a new owner. It has reportedly had only three owners in the last 63 years, with the owner having been its caretaker for 47 of them, and it has won countless trophies.
