Description
This customized half-ton 1956 Chevrolet 3100 Series Pickup received a body-off restoration and is very well built, , who did his own work when he built the short-bed truck as a -summer driver- for his wife. The seller claims the truck runs very strong and is fun to drive. - he wouldn't hesitate to drive the truck long distances, since it has been so well maintained and has no known issues. The engine is a Chevrolet 350-cu.in. OHV V8 of unspecified origin that was built for this truck in 2016 and has had less than 2,000 miles of use since, who lists engine components that include aluminum cylinder heads, an aluminum intake manifold that's topped by a Demon four-barrel carburetor, and headers. The finned air cleaner matches the finned valve covers. The truck's fuel tank was relocated below the bed and equipped with an electric fuel pump and new fuel lines. Cold starts require one pump to set the choke and the engine starts right up with a great idle and no smoke or leaks, who has noted a small drip from the Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 three-speed automatic transmission if the truck sits for over a month. The transmission has a high-stall-speed torque converter and a B&M shift kit. The rear end is a 10-bolt unit with Positraction from a Camaro. Rust problems on the fenders were repaired when the truck was restored so there is no current rust, who did his own paint work in 2016 and calls the satin black paint -show quality,- with no chips or blemishes other than normal towel scratches. Some custom flames were added to the front fenders. The provided photos show a shaved hood, a smooth front bumper, and a '57 Chevy pickup grille. A weathered Chevrolet tailgate was mounted longitudinally in the bed and the surrounding wood was coated with polyurethane, who also points out the recessed and smoothed firewall with a hand-painted -pinup girl.- Modern leather seats were installed in the cab and since the former in-cab gas tank was removed, legroom was noticeably improved, in the seller's opinion. The tilt steering column is topped by a Budnik billet steering wheel. The seller claims the power seats are very comfortable. The carpet is new and the truck doesn't have a headliner. All the gauges work. The dashboard and interior metal surfaces were painted Army Olive Drab Green to match the firewall and inner fenders. The long handle shifter is a Lokar product. The truck has neither heat nor air conditioning, who notes that the section of the dash where a stock radio sits has been filled and hence, there's no radio. A new wiring harness has been installed, who adds that the glass is in good condition with new seals that don't leak. The vent windows are cracked but the seller claims he left them alone on purpose, to -go with the style of the truck.- - Major suspension components came from a Chevrolet Camaro, including the front subframe, which added power steering and disc brakes with a vacuum booster. The truck uses dropped spindles. The rear end is a Camaro 10-bolt with parallel leaf springs moved under the axle. The frame was boxed for strength and notched to facilitate the truck's low stance. All the suspension components were rebuilt in 2016 when the truck was restored and modified, who reports that the truck drives straight with no steering play and no leaks from the power steering. The 15x8-inch (rear) and 15x7-inch (front) Rally wheels are covered by full Moon discs.- that the tires are approximately 10 years old. Tire sizes and DOT date codes weren't visible in the provided images. This customized 1956 Chevrolet 3100 Series Pickup hasn't been getting much use lately, which is why it's available.
