Description
Any ride can benefit from a healthy dose of owner-added self-expression, and this 1981 Chevrolet Corvette is no different, especially when those upgrades make it significantly faster and even more of an attention grabber. In 2006, I bought this car from my dad as a project, . During 2017, its body-off restoration and modifications were completed. Every nut, bolt, and wire is new, and the car won Second Place and Outstanding Paint at the 2017 Houston Autorama. He chose a 400-horsepower, 383-cu.in. stroker crate engine from Proformance Unlimited (see receipt), which came with photo documentation of its build, and video of it on the dyno. Its four-bolt main block was bored and honed and fitted with a balanced reciprocating assembly consisting of an Eagle steel 3.75-inch-stroke crankshaft, Eagle I-beam connecting rods, and Speed-Pro pistons.
A custom Comp Cams hydraulic-roller camshaft, lifters, and rockers were employed, as were Edelbrock's aluminum heads, intake manifold, and fuel system, and a Holley carburetor. An MSD ignition system and starter and a March Performance serpentine accessory drive with a chrome alternator, Sanden A/C compressor, and power steering pump was also installed. Cooling is aided by an aluminum radiator and water pump and dual electric fans, and a set of headers and side-pipes enhance the flow and tone of the exhaust. There are approximately 350 miles on the engine, the seller notes. It starts perfectly, there's no special process required for cold starts, and there are no leaks.
Bowtie Overdrives' 700-R4 Level-2 four-speed automatic transmission, which was installed along with a 2,800-rpm stall-speed Extreme Duty torque converter, works perfectly. A 3.73:1 gearset was fitted into the Positraction differential.
The Corvette's custom red two-stage paint job is in perfect condition. There are no blemishes, the glass and seals are new, the T-tops are fully functional, and the car does not leak. All of the lights were replaced, as well. INTEIOR The factory A/C system was swapped out in favor of a working Vintage A/C kit, and an Alpine stereo head unit was installed. Everything else in the interior is said to operate properly, and the red leather seat covers, door panels, and black carpet were replaced during the recent build. - - all-new suspension and power steering parts were installed in 2017, and the four-wheel-disc brake system was upgraded with Wilwood calipers and rotors. The polished-aluminum Corvette wheels wear P255/60R15 Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T tires, showing late 2014 date codes. DOCUMENATION - this vehicle will be sold on a clean title in his name. Receipts from the build will be included in the sale. Since its completion, this 1981 Chevrolet Corvette has proven itself in show competition, and its modifications provide brisk acceleration, low cruise rpm, and plenty of double-takes from onlookers when it drives by.
