Description
Plymouth's 1970 Hemi 'Cuda earned Holy Grail muscle-car status via its jaw-dropping E-body styling, legendary 426 Hemi engine, and straight-line performance to which precious few competitors could aspire. The seller of this example purchased it about a year and a half ago already restored. He's a collector who shares that he owns 24 other muscle cars and states, I've used this Plymouth as a show car only. It's engine numbers match, and it's the best Hemi 'Cuda I've ever seen. There's zero rust on the body, it's laser straight, and it drives like a dream. Of the 652 Hemi 'Cuda hardtops built for the U.S. for the 1970 model year, 368 were equipped with the TorqueFlite automatic. - Beneath its much-revered Shaker hood, the 425-hp 426-cu.in. Hemi V-8's highlights include two Carter AFB carburetors on an inline aluminum intake manifold, the celebrated hemispherical combustion chamber cylinder heads, a bottom-end built-to-last under sometimes punishing conditions, and free-flowing exhaust manifolds that feed into dual exhaust. I have provided an image of the partial VIN stamping in the block that matches the VIN of the car. The engine probably has 500 miles on it since the rebuild, the seller notes. It starts good, there's no smoke, and no leaks, he share, adding that the heavy-duty TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and well. An 8 ¾-inch rear axle transfers the 490 lb-ft of torque to the pavement through the wheels and reproduction 15-inch Goodyears. Flawless is how the seller describes the Ivy Green metallic paint and the glass. - no body blemishes and says all the lighting works. The fender tag lists the fresh air hood (a.k.a. Shaker); tie down pins; fender-mounted turn signals; roof drip rail, wide sill, belt, and decklid moldings; left-hand remote racing mirror; and chrome exhaust tips. This car currently also has hockey stick stripes and Rally wheels - The vinyl-covered bucket seats, carpet, headliner, and trim all rate perfect with the seller. The Rallye instrument cluster package with tachometer, and the heat work, as does the AM radio, but the 8-track tape player has not been tested. This Hemi 'Cuda is also equipped with a console and Slap Stik shifter and the light package. - During the restoration, the Hemi suspension, the steering parts, bushings, shocks, power-assisted front-disc/rear-drum brake components, and tires were replaced.- that the Plymouth tracks straight and stops great. Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, sized F60-15, are mounted on painted Rallye wheels with chrome trim rings that all appear to be in excellent condition in the photos. Additional paperwork includes a book containing photos of the entire restoration that is included with the sale. This 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda offers serious bragging rights for not only its powerful and rare engine but also for its meticulous restoration, and it will undoubtedly spark conversation and admiring gazes wherever it goes.
