Description
Echoing one of the more popular trends in classic trucks, this 1959 Chevrolet 3100 Apache wears the patina of a time-weathered work truck over a mechanical restoration. The engine and manual gearbox have reportedly been rebuilt, while the suspension and brake system are also reported to be new. Even the bench seat has been retrimmed. It appears to be a turn-key driver, with an authentic patina. Under the hood is Chevy's stalwart inline-six that has its roots in the legendary Stovebolt Six from earlier models.- it has been rebuilt and starts and runs well with a manual choke. There is no smoke from the engine and no leaks, and its complementing manual gearbox is said to shift well, with no leaks, either. Much of the charm of this vintage Chevy lies in the patina its time-worn, unrestored exterior. Depending on one's perspective, it either looks perfect as-is or needs a complete restoration. Either way, what's left of the original paint is rough and worn, while there are numerous dings and small dents throughout. Rust, however, is said to be minimal in this Arizona truck. The glass is said to be in great shape and all the seals are reportedly new. All the exterior lighting reportedly works well, too, as the truck has a new electrical harness. - Inside, a basic black steel cab is accented with a tan vinyl bench seat that was reportedly retrimmed recently and appears in very good condition, with little apparent wear. The headliner insert was also replaced, and a retro-style modern radio with Bluetooth capability was mounted in the dashboard. The rest of the Spartan interior is essentially in stock condition, down to the rubber mat rather than carpet and the large-diameter steering that helps make maneuvering the manual-steering truck a little easier. The gauges are said to work fine, but the heater does not. - - the chassis, suspension and brake elements are good order, with recent service including rebuilt front and rear suspension systems, including the shocks and bushings, as well as the brakes. All are said to perform well, with no known issues or needs. The truck also is said to drive well, rolling on new reproduction Firestone bias-ply tires mounted on factory steel wheels. Additional paperwork for this 1959 Chevrolet 3100 Apache includes documentation for the engine and gearbox rebuilds. From those powertrain items to the suspension and brakes ' and even an interior with fresh upholstery and a modern audio system ' it's a vintage truck that's been mechanically overhauled in order to make it a highway driver, while retaining an authentic patina. For many classic truck enthusiasts, it's a perfect combination.
