 Description
The Silver Hawk was produced for only three years by Studebaker, replacing the Power Hawk and Flight Hawk in the Indiana-based automaker's lineup. This 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk represents the model's first year and it's a restomod creation, who notes the car has a Chevrolet 350 engine, aftermarket-supplied automatic transmission, front disc brakes, and more. There's also retro-type radio with modern features. It was reportedly built by a former Pontiac dealer who made it his Florida cruiser, before the seller acquired it'and it's selling here at no reserve!  The previous owner, who restored the car, had its original powertrain replaced with a Chevrolet 350-cu.in. OHV V8 and a Jegs-supplied Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 three-speed automatic transmission. The engine reportedly breathes through a four-barrel carburetor that's fed with the assistance of an electric fuel pump. The engine also features an aluminum intake manifold, iron heads, and headers that flow into a dual-exhaust system. There's also an aluminum radiator fitted with an electric fan. - the engine has been rebuilt and has 2,132 miles on it and is said to be free of leaks. There is no smoke upon starting, either. The transmission is reported to shift smoothly. This Studebaker's two-tone white and silver paint scheme is said to be in good condition, with no scratches or blemishes in the finish and no swirl marks. The exterior chrome and trim also appear in good shape, with the photos showing a good shine in the brightwork. The body-side trim appears mostly straight, but a couple of sections show minor waviness. Additionally, the seller notes the glass is in good condition, with no scratches or cracks, while the same reportedly goes for the seals, which are said to have no signs of leaks. All the exterior lights are said to work normally - Inside, the cockpit was reportedly redone during the restoration and features two-tone gray vinyl upholstery that the seller notes is in great shape, with no hole, rips or excessively worn areas. Likewise, the carpet and headliner are also reportedly in great condition, with no excessive wear in the carpet or floormats and no sagging in the headliner. The door panels, steering wheel, and dashboard appear in very good condition, including the dashboard's distinctive engine-turned instrument panel insert. All the gauges set in it reportedly work normally, but the odometer makes a winding or gear-shifting noise. The interior lights, the heater, and the retro-style radio also work with modern capabilities. I installed a B&M shifter for the automatic transmission.   - The chassis, suspension, and brake elements are in good order, , with no known issues or needs. The car has manual steering and the brake system was upgraded to front disc brakes by the previous owner. They're said to work well. Additionally, the seller notes the suspension was serviced in 2019 and it included replacement of the shocks and bushings. The car rolls on BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires mounted on 15-inch aluminum wheels.- the wheels are in great shape, with no blemishes, while the tires are said to be three years old and remain in very good condition, with good tread depth. DOT date codes, to confirm tire age, are not visible in the images provided. Additional documentation for this 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk includes service invoices from the seller's ownership and build details from the previous owner. Combining an updated powertrain with the dramatic Studebaker Hawk styling has created a distinctive restomod classic'and one that will sell here at no reserve!
