 Description
From 2003-'06, Chevrolet offered a funky little hard-top convertible pickup called the SSR (Super Sport Roadster), with no illusion about its purpose: It was built for fun, not practicality. This 2005 Chevrolet SSR Convertible Pickup provides the V8 performance, thanks to the LS2 engine shared with Corvette, blended with the street rod aesthetic that made this sporty truck unique. This garage-kept, two-owner SSR has all its original components and features ' except for a battery replacement ' with no modifications, . The seller obviously used it as a pleasure driver, rolling it out on sunny days as suggested by the mere 14,000 miles on the odometer (neatly averaging out to about 1,000 miles a year). The Carfax notes non-collision damage in 2017, a deer ran into the car and not the other way around. The SSR's LS2 6.0-liter OHV V8 was factory rated at 395 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque when mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, like this example. Those performance ratings surpassed the previous couple of model years, when the SSR drew its power from a 5.3-liter V8, as used in Chevy's big SUVs. This SSR's automatic transmission shifts smoothly, the seller notes, and there are no component leaks. The SSR has been always garaged and always starts with no smoke. This 2005 SSR features a shade of exterior paint called Smokin' Asphalt, although your local authorities will just see it as black.- the paint is original and in excellent condition with no blemishes and no body rust. The two-piece hard top folds down for open-air drives and there is no leakage from the roof (when closed) or from the seals. The bold, bulging front and rear fenders gave the SSR its distinctive retro look. The body-color tonneau cover over the bed was standard. A factory-supplied mesh windscreen behind the seats features the SSR logo. Optional chrome side steps with black step pads are framed by the prominent fenders - Interior highlights include Ebony leather seats with working power adjusters (and two memory settings) and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The seats show normal wear for the truck's age in the images provided. The SSR adds stylish accents with brushed metallic trim across the steering wheel, instrument panel, and doors, plus metallic finishes on the shifter and center console. The analog gauges are reportedly functional and include a 140-mph speedometer. Three small auxiliary gauges at the console level include a torque meter. The carpet and floormats appear to be in good condition. The air conditioning, heat, power locks, and power windows all operate as expected, . - The 2005 Chevy SSR rides on a rear-wheel-drive platform with a sport-tuned suspension that includes stabilizer bars in front and rear. The truck features a limited slip differential with a 3.73:1 rear axle ratio. If you're inclined to haul gear in the bed (maybe a cooler'), the SSR provides a 1,290-pound payload rating. The shocks and bushings are in excellent condition, , and the brakes operate with no issues. The power steering has no play and no issues, the seller adds. The five-spoke, chrome-plated aluminum wheels measure 19 inches in front and 20 inches in the rear. The Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires are also original, with 2004 DOT date codes. The undercarriage appears clean in the photos provided. Documentation includes a Carfax vehicle history report and the original window sticker. Among SSR models, the final two years of 2005-'06 are the most sought-after because of the power boost provided by the 6.0-liter V8 engine. This 2005 Chevrolet SSR Convertible Pickup offers the larger engine with the added benefit of low miles.
