Description
The 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray has certainly been known to inspire its owners and fans to achieve lofty goals, and this example was no different. - This A-O Smith coupe was purchased approximately 45 years ago in Minnesota by my wife's father and was garaged in his possession until 2018 when we inherited it after his death. We then began a complete body-off restoration to full NCRS standards to honor him, as he had dreamed of doing this in his planned retirement. The project was completed in 2021, and in May of that year it earned an NCRS Top Flight award at a local event in Kansas City where it scored 98.4 points. Its 350-horsepower, 360-lb-ft of torque, 327-cu.in. OHV V8 is numbers matching , and a photo of the partial VIN stamp on the block and the HT engine code are provided for verification. This optional engine features a Holley carburetor, aluminum intake manifold, high-performance hydraulic-lifter camshaft, and an 11.00:1 compression ratio, among its attributes, and it was rebuilt during the restoration. Only 233 miles have been put on the Corvette since then. Simply pump the gas a few times (3-5) and it starts easily every time, the seller observes. It idles at about 1,000 rpm, initially, then slows to 750 when warm, and there is no smoke. Though there is a minor oil leak, it's not excessive, and I haven't had to add oil in two years, he admits. The rest of the drivetrain has no leaks, and the four-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly. Not surprisingly, the code-972 Ermine White paint is excellent with no flaws, the seller asserts, as are the seals and lighting. The previously modified wheel openings were returned to stock during the restoration, and the original, date-coded glass remains in good condition. New foam and black vinyl upholstery adorn the original and functioning seat frames, the seller notes. The carpet and headliner are also new and all of the trim and switchgear are present. Everything from the rebuilt gauge cluster to the original radio and speakers, the heater, and the power windows function properly. - Completely restored just a few years ago, there are no issues with the fully detailed four-wheel independent suspension and manual disc brakes. Reproduction 15-inch, bolt-on, knock-off-style aluminum wheels with BFGoodrich white-stripe radial tires, DOT dated 2018, are on the car, and a set of original steel wheels with yellow-line bias-ply tires and wheel covers will be included. No vibrations are generated on the road, power steering was added to enhance the driving experience, and the sports car is said to ride like a new mid-1960s C2. photos and documents recording the work performed are included. This concours restored, matching-numbers, 350-hp 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray has already justified the quality of its restoration in NCRS judging, and it's now ready to be revered by a new owner.
