 Description
This 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V is a Bill Blass Edition with desirable white leather upholstery, highlighted with blue accents and carpet. The two-tone paint is reportedly original, along with the white carriage top, and the seller indicates that he purchased the car from the son of the original owner. - Like all the later Mark Vs, this Bill Blass Edition is powered by the 400-cu.in. V-8. The seller's photos show what appears to be a very clean engine bay, with original blue paint on the valve covers, original markings and no signs of modification, other than a fresh Interstate battery. The starter has been replaced, along with hoses and coolant.- that the engine is original to the car, and has never been rebuilt. - it starts with two pumps of the accelerator every time, never smokes, and has no leaks. The C6 Select-Shift three-speed automatic transmission is reported to shift smoothly with no issues. Bill Blass Edition Mark Vs were available in this unique two-tone paint scheme, featuring White on the upper body, with Midnight Blue Metallic on the flanks. The paint, along with the dual gold custom paint/tape stripe separating the two colors, appears to be in remarkably clean condition throughout, per the photographs.- that the paint is original to the car and he points out one small ding on the driver's-side wheel arch molding as the only blemish on the exterior. The rest of the chrome details appear to be in excellent condition. The Bill Blass Edition offered the option of this White Diamond Grain Carriage Roof. The top appears to be in excellent shape, with no significant discoloration, damage, or bubbling under the surface visble in the photos. Bill Blass Editions were also unique inside, featuring this white leather upholstery, with blue accent stripes. The upholstery appears to be very clean, with no visible cracking, creasing, or other damage. The door panels, door pulls, and armrests appear to also be in excellent condition, with no staining, damage, or discoloration. The dash shows no cracks in the padding, and the woodgrain bezels appear to be in excellent condition. The instrument panel appears to be clear and legible.- that the gauges are all functional, but that the clock is not. The Lincoln is equipped with its original AM/FM Quadrasonic tape player.- that it functions as new, though the power antenna is not currently working. - that the air conditioning is cold and functions well. - I have provided photos of the chassis and underbody. Aside from some light surface rust visible on the front suspension crossmember, driveshaft, and supports, the chassis, suspension components, and underbody appear to be free of corrosion. The rear control arms appear to still have their original paint.- no leaks from the power steering pump or lines, and no unusual play in the wheel. The suspension service history is unreported, but the springs and bushings appear to be in good condition, and there appear to be no leaks from the shocks. The brakes are power-assisted discs at all four corners and the seller reports that they have no issues, and stop the car without drama. The original Lincoln turbine alloy wheels appear to be in excellent condition, with no visible curb rash or other condition issues. The wheels are equipped with Diamondback whitewalls that he replaced about six months ago. Additional documentation includes the factory build sheet, window sticker, and owner's warranty card, along with a Marti Report. This low-mileage 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V Bill Blass Edition appears to be in beautiful condition, representative of the high-quality, full-size personal luxury cars that the Mark Vs were in the 1970s.
