 Description
The seller reasons, Of the 40,149 GTOs made for 1970, only 3,783 of those were convertibles, making them harder to find. My 1970 Pontiac GTO Convertible is in beautiful condition, and I've tried to keep it as original as possible. He adds, I've had fun driving it, and I kept the mileage to less than 500 per year. This car was always garaged, has a stunning color combination, and is a great cruiser. Under the hood is the standard, 350-horsepower, 445-lb-ft of torque, 400-cu.in. OHV V8 that is original to the car. He hasn't located the partial VIN on the block to confirm it, but the YS engine code is correct.  Recent work includes installing a new alternator, battery, voltage regulator, rocker cover gaskets, and oil-pressure switch, and an oil/filter change was done. The water pump was replaced some years back. Engage the automatic choke, turn the key, and the car starts well and doesn't leak to my knowledge. The Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 three-speed automatic transmission, shifts well and leaves rubber, and 3.55:1 gears are in the BOP 10-bolt rear axle. Plugged windshield drains caused some superficial rust on the lower fenders (near the wheel-wells), which were repaired, the seller reveals. The paint did not match, so the entire car was refinished in 2009 in its factory hue of code-58 Granada Gold. It remains in good-to-excellent condition with no rust, but there are some small defects, including a minor abrasion on the front Endura bumper and paint chips on the trunk lid lip, he explains. The convertible top functions well, is in excellent condition, and its glass back window is still clear. Factory side windows still look great, and open and close without difficulty. Natural wear is evident on the original windshield, the seals are excellent, and the exterior lighting operates as designed - Except for the front seat backs, the black vinyl-upholstered interior, the carpet, and the trim are original. Both the seats and carpet are in good condition, with the latter exhibiting some small defects. All the stock instruments and warning lamps operate properly, as does the A/C, which is not listed on the factory invoice because it was dealer installed, the seller asserts.  The heater/defroster and the upgraded stereo with CD player and added speakers in the door panels also function correctly. The Rally clock works sometimes, and an optional Custom Sports steering wheel was added. - He notes, the suspension was greased at regular intervals, and there are no issues with the bushings or shocks. A recent master cylinder replacement and brake job brought the power front disc/rear drum system up to snuff. The optional Rally II 14-inch steel wheels are still in place, the spare is also a Rally II, , and the P225/70R14 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires are DOT dated 2021. Variable-ratio power steering works well, its hoses were recently replaced, and the car's ride is fantastic. Included is the PHS package, the original owner's manual, and the Protect-O-Plate. This 1970 Pontiac GTO convertible appears to have lived a charmed life, and soon a new owner will benefit from the long-term care it has received.
