 Features
 Description
Reportedly restored by a previous owner, this 1968 Mercury Cougar was acquired through a vintage-car dealer and it has been a car-show cruiser during his time with it. There's a 351 Windsor under the hood and no known rust in the body, who adds the car runs strong.  The 351-cu.in. Windsor OHV V8 powering this Mercury is not original to the car and is said to have an estimated 500 miles on a rebuild from 2020. It wears a polished aluminum intake manifold, a Holley four-barrel carburetor and an MSD distributor. It reportedly starts easily and runs well, but typically takes a couple minutes of warm-up for it to settle into a normal idle. There's also an aluminum radiator and electric fan. The engine is matched with an automatic transmission that reportedly shifts well. The car originally came with a 302-cu.in. OHV V8 and a four-speed manual transmission. - this Cougar was painted black by a previous owner. It looks very good, but is not mint, noting it has a few paint chips and a couple of small scratches on the left-front fender. There's no apparent rust in the body, notes the seller, who adds the glass and seals are in good condition. There are no reported issues with the exterior lighting, including the vacuum-operated headlamp doors - The black vinyl cabin of this Cougar appears in good condition, with some apparent age-related wear in the carpet, steering wheel, and other trim. There are no noted holes or tears in the seat covers or carpet and the headliner is reportedly in good shape, too. All the interior trim is said to be intact, and a custom center console was added. It wraps on to the instrument panel and houses a racing-style shifter, a pair of auxiliary instruments, and an aftermarket radio. There are no reported issues with the gauges or radio, but the seller notes that the speakers may need to be updated. The heater is also said to be in working order. - - the chassis, suspension, and brake elements are good condition, with no known needs or issues. The suspension was reportedly inspected and service a couple of years ago, including new shocks. That's also when the tires were installed, although DOT date codes, to verify tire age, are not visible in the photos provided. The tires are mounted on chrome wire wheels that the seller reports are blemish-free. The right front wheel is missing its center cap in the photos. However, the car is titled as a 1967 model, when the VIN, data plate and other ID tags on the car show it is a 1968 Mercury Cougar Hardtop. It is reportedly in good-running condition, with a 351 Windsor V8 and an automatic transmission.
