Description
A few modifications under the hood and an exterior makeover can enhance the character of any car. For instance, this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro was originally Dusk Blue per its cowl data-plate code, but it's current black finish with white stripes, and the addition of a cowl induction hood, front and rear spoilers, SS emblems, and oversized wheels and tires provide a more aggressive appearance. We bought it at an auction 2½ years ago, the sellers report. They've since invested more than $9,200 in repairs and upgrades, and now, It runs like a dream, and drives great! A different 350-cu.in. V-8 was installed prior to our purchase, the sellers report, so we are unsure of the mileage on this engine and have no information on its last rebuild. It has an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, aluminum intake manifold, and new rocker covers, headers, dual exhaust system, spark plugs, and wires.
They advise that it takes one or two turnovers to start when cold, and does not smoke. There are no current leaks and any previous ones, such as that at the rear main seal, have been fixeds. The three-speed automatic transmission shifts very smoothly, and the sellers believe that the 10-bolt rear axle has Positraction, but they don't know the gear ratio.
They also disclose that they aren't sure when the Camaro was last painted, but they agree that the finish is in excellent condition, with very few scratches or chips. No rust is visible, and they state no rust repairs have been made during their ownership. The windshield has been resealed, and its trim and clips were replaced. All the other windows are reported to be in great condition, and they report no evidence of any leaks. New front parking lamp assemblies were installed and the wiring was repaired, so now all of the lights work, they add - Though code 715 on the cowl data plate denotes blue vinyl interior, this Camaro's cabin has been changed to black houndstooth cloth and black vinyl seat covers. The sellers report that all seat fabrics are in great condition, and the driver's seat works, but seems sunken. They add that there doesn't appear to be any worn areas on the carpet, the headliner is in great condition, and all lights are present and functional. The interior trim is complete, and music is provided by an updated stereo system. The heat, air conditioning, optional tachometer, and AutoMeter gauges are said to work. - Any suspension work was done by the previous owner, but the sellers did have the power steering pump and lines replaced, a front power disc brake upgrade installed with a full system flush-and-refill with silicone fluid, and the underside of the Camaro cleaned, painted, and undercoated. They report that the bushings and shocks are in working order, there is no apparent rash or pitting on the aftermarket American Racing 16-inch wheels, and the Yokohama front tires, sized 215/60R16, and Kumho rear tires, sized 235/60R16, have quite a bit of tread remaining. They add that there's no play in the steering, the car drives straight, and there are no vibrations felt at 65 mph. Additional paperwork includes a detailed receipt for the work they had done. This modified 1969 Chevrolet Camaro offers an imposing presence and it features an upgraded 350 engine to back up its look.
