The seller of this restored 1958 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe was taken by the '58 Impala in the movie American Graffiti and set out find a similar car. He found this Snowcrest White Impala in 2002 in California. It had been carefully restored by a retired tool and die maker to a very high level, in the seller's opinion. The level of restoration was validated by an AACA National First Prize award in 2009, and an AACA Senior Award in 2012. - that the tri-power-topped 348-cu.in. OHV V8 -W- engine is correct for the car, but he can't say if it is the car's original engine. He claims that the engine is the very rare 315-horsepower 348 that Chevrolet rated as having 356 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm. These top-horsepower, triple two-barrel carburetor engines had solid lifters. The car starts quickly if it has been driven in the last few days. Longer inactivity periods take longer to start, who adds that he always primes the engine to eliminate unnecessary starter use. He notes very small amounts of leaking oil when the car sits for several weeks. The three-speed manual column-shift transmission shifts properly through all the gears, . This restored Impala was painted Snowcrest White (code 936A) about 25 years ago, who notes some minor paint crazing on the hood and driver's door. - these flaws are only visible under close inspection.
