Description
I was going to flip it in order to fund my business, but I fell in love with it about this 1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible. That love affair began 20 years ago, after the car had just undergone a restoration, and in the following years, the seller has made a number of reported upgrades and improvements. They include disc brakes, power steering, air conditioning, an electronic ignition conversion, and more. This car is a pleasure to drive and is very comfortable, adds the seller. The original 312-cu.in. OHV V8 engine is said to power this T-Bird.New, the engine was rated at 245 horsepower.A Pertronix breakerless electronic ignition conversion was made in the distributor. The radiator and cooling fan were updated to enhance cooling capability.A Fordomatic three-speed automatic transmission is paired with the V8 engine. The exterior was repainted presumably during the car's restoration and appears in good condition. There are some touched-up chips in the basecoat/clearcoat finish. The body and chassis are rust-free, asserts the seller. He notes it has always been a dry, Southwest vehicle. The convertible top is also said to be in good shape, with a replacement canvas top.During his ownership, the seller had the red leather interior reupholstered. The cockpit appears in very good condition, with light apparent wear. The bench seat has lap-type seat belts.A modern air conditioning system was fitted and reportedly works well. The radio has been replaced with a more modern head unit.Power steering and front disc brakes were added, along with front and rear anti-sway bars. This Thunderbird rolls on Goodyear whitewall radial tires mounted on chrome wire wheels. COMES WITH A tonneau cover is included.-The windshield wipers, tachometer, and odometer do not work.- the tachometer's issue is related to the drive cable. The odometer appears detached from the gauge face, which is bent. When purchased in 2005, the mileage was recorded as 96,920. True mileage is unknown - This classic first-generation Thunderbird was reportedly restored about 20 years ago.I have made a number of enhancements, including air conditioning, disc brakes, and more.It is reportedly powered by the original 312 V8, which is backed by an automatic transmission. The Colonial White paintwork appears to show well. The convertible top is said to be in -great condition.-The red leather cockpit was reupholstered during the seller's ownership and has a modern radio. With targeted enhancements designed to enhance comfort and drivability, this 1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible offers iconic style with a more contemporary driving experience. The car shines and is beautiful inside and mechanically.
