Reported to be under his ownership for 34 years, this 1929 Ford Model A Phaeton is one of 209,943 similar cars built over the model's four-year lifespan. - a seven-year, ground-up restoration that was reportedly completed around 1990. Since then, this Model A has been the recipient of an AACA Grand National award in 1992, took part in two Glidden Tour revivals, and was last presented at Hershey in 2003. Done to a high degree after reportedly being found in a barn, the Model A is believed to have its original engine and to be currently free of rust. - All Models A's were delivered from the facttory with Ford's 201-cu.in. L-head inline four-cylinder engine. With a compression ratio of 4.22:1, the carbureted engine was rated by the manufacturer at 40 horsepower when new. The engine in this Model A is reported to be original to the car, having amassed 8,500 miles since a rebuild by marque specialist Dick McKee of Columbiana, Ohio. The engine is said to start readily without smoke, and the three-speed manual transmission is reported to operate properly. No powertrain leaks are noted. The engine bay is stock and presents as generally clean.- the nitrocellulose lacquer paint dates to 1988 or 1989 and is in overall good condition, with no swirls.- slight paint shrinkage on the hood plus small cracks, nicks and worn areas, especially around the hood, but no dents. The phaeton top is reported to be in near-perfect condition, with side curtains and a top boot. - all areas of corrosion were replaced when the Model A was restored and that the car is now rust free. The running boards are straight and the brightwork appears to be in very good condition. The windshield, wind wings and rear glass are said to be in very good condition. All exterior lighting is termed operable. The underside shows no visible rust and presents as strongly clean. - the interior was redone with original-style materials that remain in very good to excellent condition, with no visible tears or other damage. The Model A's floors appear to be solid and are covered by rubber mats. All instrumentation in the painted steel dashboard is reported to be functional. There is no heater or audio system. - that regular chassis maintenance and lubrication have been performed on a regular basis. Spring covers were reportedly installed in 1992. - no functional issues or component damage, stating that the mechanical drum brakes are in good operating order.
