Description
Little needs to be said about the legacy and desirability of mid-year Corvettes. The legacy and collectability of the Vette was cemented by these all-American sports cars. They were desirable when new and even more so today. This 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible is a great driver, , who reportedly has owned it for 32 years. It is also said to be powered by its original 327/350 engine and four-speed gearbox. The car was painted a custom Candy Apple Red in 1996, and it wears the optional cast aluminum wheels, which have the look of the early knock-off design, but with conventional bolt-on wheel lugs behind the center cap. This car has been a joy for weekend drives. - this Sting Ray has the original L79-code 327-cu.in., 350-horsepower engine under the hood, along with the original Muncie four-speed transmission. Breathing through a Holley four-barrel carburetor mounted atop an aluminum intake manifold, the small-block V-8 reportedly starts easily, without smoke, and is said to run well. - a small oil leak at the rear main seal, and says the Muncie four-speed shifts well. There are no reported cooling issues with the powertrain. A respray of the exterior occurred in 1996, with a custom Candy Apple Red color, and the finish has reportedly held up well. The paint is in very good condition, with no swirls and only very minimal blemishes. The exterior trim and chrome also appear to be in very good shape, with the seller noting that the folding black top was also installed in 1996 is said to look like new. There are no reported cracks or chips in the windshield, as all of the glass and complementing seals are reported to be in excellent condition. All of the exterior lighting, including the electrically operated headlamp doors, are said to work normally. There is also a hardtop for the car, but it has not been painted the same color as the rest of the exterior. - Inside, the black leather cockpit appears to be in very good condition and is believed to be mostly original, including the seat covers. The carpet, door panels and dash pad also appear to be in very good condition, while the wood-rimmed steering wheel shows light wear and no apparent cracks. There is visible pitting on the chrome horn button and wear on the collar behind the steering wheel, along with minor wear evident on other parts of the instrument panel. - the ampmeter does not work, but that the rest of the gauges are functional. Additionally, the heater is said to work well, but the performance of the factory AM/FM radio is said to be only fair. - - the chassis, suspension and braking elements have been maintained in stock condition and have no known issues or needs. Recent service reportedly includes new brakes ' with four new calipers ' approximately a year ago. Previous suspension service occurred 10 years ago, noting the car has been driven less than 1,000 miles in that time. The car also has manual steering that is said to provide straight, stable steering, without play or vagueness. Rolling stock includes Michelin Pilot Exalto radial tires mounted on factory-style cast aluminum wheels. The tires also date back 10 years and are said to have minimal miles on them. Additional paperwork includes an owner's manual and a Chilton's repair manual. Few American cars draw admiring glances like a C2 roadster, and this 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible, with its custom Candy Apple Red paintwork, is bound to draw even more from curious enthusiasts. It's also a numbers-matching car, ' and one that's said to be a joy to drive.
