 Description
In the gap between the 2008 Ford Mustang GT and supercharged Shelby GT500 was the Shelby GT, a mildly tuned version of the standard GT that delivered panache and exclusivity. Of the 2,214 produced, 583 of them were Vista Blue convertibles with a manual transmission, including this 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT Convertible, which carries Shelby number CSM08SGT0419. The car is in excellent shape and everything works, who reportedly found it on a dealer lot in Vermont. A Carfax report shows two previous owners and no reported accidents. Based on the Mustang GT, the Shelby GT was powered by Ford's 4.6-liter SOHC V8. Upgrades specific to the package included a cold-air induction system, performance exhaust system, and unique calibration, resulting in a factory-rated output of 319 horsepower, 19 more than a stock Mustang GT. The engine in this example reportedly starts easily and runs well, with the only reported non-original equipment a set of MSD ignition coils.- the engine and five-speed manual gearbox are leak-free and that the five-speed transmission, with its short-throw shifter, shifts easily. Recent powertrain service has reportedly included an oil and filter change, along with new spark plugs. There were a few additional special models of the 2008 Shelby GT that came in different colors, but Vista Blue with silver stripes was the standard color scheme. In addition to the graphics, the package included a simulated hood scoop, grille insert, hood pins, and a front chin spoiler. This example reportedly retains its original paintwork and stripes, which are said to be in excellent overall condition, with noted blemishes including some small paint nicks on the hood, a small scratch on the passenger's door, some light scratches on the rear bumper, and a small piece of the rocker panel stripe missing on the driver's side. The convertible top is said to work normally, with no leaks and no issues with the windows when the top is opened or closed. All the glass components are said to be in great shape, too, with the seller reporting a small nick on the passenger's side of the windshield. As for rust, the seller reports a small patch of corrosion under the hood, near the passenger-side strut tower. It was reportedly touched up by a previous owner. All the exterior lights reportedly work normally - The Shelby GT's black leather-trimmed cabin is based on the production Mustang GT, with unique sill plates, a dash plaque showing the car's Shelby number, and a Hurst short-throw shifter. There's also a styling bar that should not be confused with an actual roll bar. An additional upgrade is blue door panel inserts. The interior presentation in this example is described as excellent , with some light apparent wear in the driver's seat. The carpet is excellent as well, , although some wear is also noted in the Shelby floor mats. The door panels, center console, and dash pad also appear in very good condition and the seller reports everything from the gauges and power accessories to the air conditioning and Shaker 500 audio system are in working order. - As part of the Shelby GT package, the suspension was upgraded with a Ford Racing Handling Package, which included new dampers all around, lowering springs, thicker stabilizer bars, and a strut tower brace. All are said to be in very good condition, with no known issues or needs. The car also wears 18-inch polished-aluminum wheels that were part of the Shelby GT package. They appear in good condition, with the seller reporting no blemishes or curb rash. The wheels are matched with Cooper tires show only 5/32-inch tread depth. The car can use a new set of tires, adds the seller. Their DOT date codes are not visible in the photos. Additional documentation for this 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT Convertible includes the certificate from the Shelby Registry, along with the Ford window sticker, supplemental Shelby window sticker, and original manuals. Only 583 of these convertibles were produced with a manual transmission, making this a comparatively rare piece of couture from the House of Shelby. excellent overall condition.
