Description
This 1948 Buick Super Four-Door Sedan received a frame-off restoration and modification, who states that every part was disassembled, sandblasted, and repainted or powder coated. Updated suspension, disc brakes, and a GM big-block powertrain make what the seller calls -a smooth and trouble-free ride that can be a daily driver and a fun cruiser.- The engine is a rebuilt Chevrolet 454-cu.in. OHV V8 that has a new Edelbrock intake manifold, an Edelbrock 750-cfm carburetor, and an HEI ignition system. The engine is backed by a rebuilt GM 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission, a new driveshaft, new U-joints, and a Ford rear end with 3.73:1 gears. The engine is cooled by a Walker heavy-duty radiator and an electric fan. The engine and the rest of the car received a new wiring harness from Kwik Wire. The car has a custom dual exhaust system.- -first crank- cold starts with no leaks. This Buick received a frame-off, ground-up restoration,- there is no rust on the car. The current gray paint was applied three years ago and there are no blemishes. The glass and weatherstripping are new. The original grille and bumpers were rechromed. The Buick has a third brake light and a receiver hitch. All the lights work - The interior features gray leather seats from a Mercury Marquis that include six-way power driver and passenger bucket seats, who says both the upholstery and carpeting are new. - the headliner is excellent, and new gauges from Classic Instruments have been added. The original 6-volt clock doesn't work. The radio is an updated Pioneer one. A Gen IV heat and air conditioning unit from Vintage Air works properly and the windshield wipers were upgraded to electric operation. The window regulators and door latches were rebuilt. The 1991 GM tilt steering column is topped by a Buick steering wheel. The trunk is carpeted. - The front suspension features a Mustang II style rack-and-pinion setup from Fat Man Fabrications that has new springs, control arms, bushings, tie rods, shocks, and power disc brakes. The rear suspension uses new coil springs and an airbag booster for an adjustable ride. All the brake components are new, including a new master cylinder, brake booster, proportioning valve, calipers, rotors, and brake lines. There is no steering play, who adds that the suspension was serviced about five years ago. He estimates the Goodyear Wrangler tires to be about five years old with lots of tread but DOT date codes are not visible in the photos to confirm tire age. This 1948 Buick Super Four-Door Sedan street rod has been fully restored and updated with modern running gear and a luxurious interior. Some receipts are available.
