 Description
Fair weather fun is what Cobra replicas are all about. Few have tops or windows and not many even have radios, but on a sunny day enjoying the breeze, chirping the tires and listening to the roaring side pipes is gear head entertainment at its finest. That scenario pretty much describes the lifestyle of this 1987 West Coast Cobra replica. The late owner put approximately 2000 fun cruising miles on the car after he completely restored it in 2003. The car was stripped and treated to a show quality silver iridescent paint job at the bodyshop the late owner managed. The SVO Ford Racing crate engine was rebuilt at the same time. The leather interior was restored in 2019. The car is being sold to settle an estate. The emblems say 427 but it's a Ford Racing SVO 460-cubic inch crate big-block that supplies the motivation to the tune of 560 claimed horsepower with an impressive 535 lb-ft of torque. This much power in a lightweight Cobra replica will get your attention. The carburetor is a Holley four-barrel. The engine was rebuilt in 2003 and has approximately 2000 miles on it. Cold starting takes a few cranks, but after the engine warms up it idles fine. The automatic transmission is a Ford C-6 that was rebuilt within the last year. - the transmission shifts clean and doesn't leak. Silver iridescent paint coats the fiberglass replica Cobra body. The car was repainted in 2003 during the car's restoration. - the paint condition as beautiful with no blemishes or swirl marks. The car is always stored inside. - that there is a crack on the passenger side of the windshield, but a new windshield is included with the sale. All the lights and door seals are stated to be in good working condition. Black leather covers the bucket seats. Sean Paul Custom Interiors redid the seats and rest of the interior in 2019. Sean Paul modified the dashboard to accept a full array of Auto Meter gauges. The seller rates the carpet condition as excellent and the same black carpet is used in the trunk. Wide, competition style lap belts keep occupants firmly planted when the 460 comes alive. The wood-rimmed steering wheel has a Cobra horn button and the doors have good size storage pouches. - Rectangular steel tubing was used by West Coast Cobra to build the frame. The frame was designed to be six-inches longer and four-inches wider than a real Cobra in order to provide more cockpit room. The independent front suspension uses coil-over shock absorbers and power steering. The 9-inch Ford rear end is mounted with a four-link setup and coil-over shocks.- all suspension components are in good working order without any issues. The tires are P235/60R15 BFGoodrich Radial T/A in front and P295/50R15 in back. The knock-off style mag wheels are by Compomotive. I don't know the age of the tires, but they are in good condition with lots of tread. My father was the manager of an autobody collision facility, so he personally oversaw the 2003 restoration of this 1987 West Coast Cobra replica. I have accumulated approximately 2000 fair weather miles on the car including annual trips to the famed Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit.
