1956 Imperial South Hampton 2-door hardtop

1956 IMPERIAL SOUTHAMPTON 2 Door Hardtop This is a rare 1956 Imperial South Hampton 2 Door Hardtop with its original 354 c.i. Hemi 280HP 4BBl V8 engine.  Finished in stunning Nugget Gold over Cloud White with beautiful white/gray interior, this incredible Imperial was part of the late Dr. David George Briant's garage kept collection of Imperials in Arizona since 1993.  Dr. Briant was a car expert and wrote over 50 articles for the W.P.C. collector club and this Imperial was one of his personal favorites.  This particular car is 1 of only 2,094 2-door Imperials made in 1956 (2,051 were sold domestic and 43 exported) and is both a rust and accident-free true survivor!  The car is an absolute pleasure to drive and the PowerFlite transmission shifts smoothly through the gears. The car has obviously been well maintained both inside and out.  Just look at the pictures, especially of the engine compartment! This collector (Chassis #C562521) is a beautiful example of true 1956 luxury.  The car appears original with no major modifications and includes factory options such as, PowerFlite automatic transmission, electric clock, 4 way power seat, power steering, power brakes, power windows, full floor carpeting, full wheel covers, front & rear pull down armrests and with added options of heater & defroster and radio.  All lights work, as do the gauges except for the fuel gauge. Paint, interior seat covers and panels were redone in the early 1990s and appear in good condition, although the seat foam will eventually need to be replaced.  The carburetor, radiator and brakes have all been refreshed in the last 3 years.  The odometer did read 68,400 when received by Dr. Briant in 1993 but according to his notes was reset to zero when a new old stock speedometer cluster was installed as a part of the refresh.  The odometer shows the mileage driven since 1993 as 5,200 miles, so total mileage is at approximately 73,600. Overall mechanical performance is described as outstanding, This collector has won collector awards at the WPCs annual Photo Meet and was featured on the front cover of one of its monthly magazine issues. Should you purchase this rare find, you will not be disappointed in this truly magnificent Imperial South Hampton!
