 Vehicle Description
How do you improve upon an already eye-catching and quick 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray' Add even more displacement and power. When I purchased this car in 1994 or '95, it already had a 1990 LS6 454-cu.in. crate engine in it, the seller relates. Though the console data plate denotes the 400 HORSEPOWER and 460-LBS.FT. TORQUE extra-cost 427-cu.in. engine that was equipped with triple 2-barrel carburetion, and a big-block hood is in place, that they could've easily been changed before he purchased the car. Since the seller doesn't know if this Corvette was a factory 427 car, he is assuming that it wasn't. He adds, It runs great, doesn't squeak or rattle, and a new battery was installed. I'm selling it because I just don't drive it enough. - the 454-cu.in. OHV V8 has travelled maybe 5,000 miles since its installation. The series of letters and numbers on the block's stamping pad includes XAA, which is the code for the 1990 LS6 (see photo). The date code on the block, E040, decodes as May 4, 1990 (see photo). Its four-bolt main block casting number is 10069286 (see photo). The high-performance, rectangular-port cylinder heads' casting number is 14096188, and a Chevrolet triple-two-barrel induction system with the aluminum intake manifold (part number 3939797) was bolted on. New Holley carburetors were installed in 2015. Extra-cost side-mounted exhaust is present, and the crossmember under the radiator was replaced. If the car sits for a few weeks, the gas evaporates from the center carb, so it takes a few cranks to start the engine, he observes. When it's warm it starts immediately, and there's no smoke. There is a little weep on the Muncie four-speed manual transmission, but it shifts like is should, and the rear gear ratio is 3.36:1 in the Positraction differential. The code-984 Daytona Yellow paint is very good for a driver, . This car was repainted in lacquer when I bought it, and there are a few chips and scratches, but nothing much. He adds, Splash guards were glassed on like the 1970 model. The removable roof panels fit and work fine and the gaskets were changed, but since I've never had the car out in the rain, I don't know if tops are watertight. Though there are a few scratches, the glass is good, as are the seals, and the lighting functions properly - In the cockpit, the code-ZQ4 standard black vinyl interior was treated to new seat covers and carpeting around 2000, and they remain in good condition. The tops and liner are also good, the trim is complete, and the lighting works. Though the speedometer is slightly inaccurate, the gauges function, as do the original AM/FM radio, power windows, tilt steering, and heater. The A/C, changed over to R-134a, currently blows cool but not cold. - In 2013, the suspension was serviced and new trailing arms were installed, the seller notes. The bushings, shocks, power steering, and power four-wheel disc brakes are all good, and have no leaks. There are some scuffs on the trim rings of the 15x8-inch steel Rally wheels, but no vibrations are present at speed. The P225/70R15 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires have 4,000 miles on them and no dry rot at all, , but they do date back to 1998. This 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will draw attention to itself via its bright yellow factory hue, famed LS6 454 crate engine power infusion, and coveted triple-two-barrel induction system. It will also inspire spirited backroad excursions.
