 Vehicle Description
- this 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4x4 as having a near complete restoration that was finished in 2018. At that time, the full-size Jeep took on fresh paint, new wood paneling, and a new interior, as well as maintenance items like new tires, full brakes, shocks, belts, hoses, and battery. He also believes the odometer reading of just over 116,000 to be accurate, and the title and Carfax back up his claim. - For 1988, you had one engine choice with the Grand Wagoneer: The 360-cu.in. V-8 was the last engine developed by AMC, and would remain in the Grand Wagoneer until the very end of production. The engine was rated at 160 horsepower, and the seller reports that, to his knowledge, the 360 is original to this SUV. When the vehicle was overhauled in 2018, it received new belts, hoses, and a battery. Photos of the engine bay show what appears to be original black paint on all of the engine components. The transmission is a 727 three-speed automatic that the seller reports has been flushed and filled with new fluid. The seller comments that there are no surprising vibrations or noises from the transmission, it shifts rather slowly from first to second, but that his mechanic has assured him it's shifting properly. The Grand Wagoneer uses a Selec-Trac four-wheel-drive setup with Dana 44 axles front and rear.- that after he purchased the vehicle in 2019, he had the Jeep professionally painted in the original Pearl White finish and the woodgrain applique was replaced at that time. He mentions that the only blemish on the Grand Wagoneer's finish is on the driver's-side rocker panel, which he had replaced when the vehicle was painted. - the cosmetic work to the rocker panel could have been better. Aside from polished Vent Shades on all four doors and a Class III receiver under the rear bumper, there appear to be no significant modifications to the exterior.- that the glass is all in excellent condition and that the exterior lighting is all functional - Inside, the seller indicates that the tan leather upholstery had some tears when he purchased it, but he had those issues addressed after the vehicle was painted. The upholstery features leather on the sides, and cloth corduroy panels for the seating surfaces. The leather on the driver's-side bolster shows some creasing and light cracking, but appears to be solid with no significant tears. The rear seat appears to be in similar condition, with some light cracking to the leather, but no major condition issues visible in the photos.- that the carpet appears to be original, and it appears to be in very good condition, in the photos, and protected by a set of matching carpeted mats with Grand Wagoneer script. The door panels look good, with no major damage in the photos, and the dash appears to have no significant cracks.- that the gauges are all functional. The original audio system has been replaced with a Clarion CD player that doesn't look out of place in the dash. - that the audio system is fully operable, and that the air conditioning is working as intended. when I got it, I had the underside sand blasted, and protected with six coats of undercoating. There appears to be no rust underneath, and the frame, underbody, and suspension components all appear to be in excellent condition. The Grand Wagoneer has power steering, which operates well, with no leaks. - the entire suspension was inspected when I purchased the vehicle, and I had the shocks and bushings replaced in 2019 as a result. - riding like a Cadillac. The brakes were new in 2019, including new rotors. The wheels are the original Grand Wagoneer alloys with pre-1989 gunmetal gray on the sides of the spokes, along with Jeep center caps. There is some visible surface corrosion on the alloy faces, but no major curb rash. The tires are Mastercraft A/S IV whitewall radials, sized 235/75R15 with visible date codes from 2018.- that the tires have traveled fewer than 1,000 miles since he purchased them. The Grand Wagoneer is one of few truly gold-plated collectibles from the late 1980s and early 1990s. This 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4x4 appears to be in good overall condition, ready to be enjoyed by its next family.
