Vehicle Description
Produced exclusively for the California market, Shelby produced only 215 examples of the 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-C ' and all of them were painted Grabber Orange. This example is #82 and has about 67,000 miles on the odometer, that the seller reports as accurate and the Carfax corroborates. He has owned five of these rare Shelby models. It reportedly spent most of its time in the Golden State, before ending up with the seller in Connecticut. After acquiring the car, the seller has added approximately 1,500 miles to it and invested in a number of performance upgrades, including new camshafts, and ignition and exhaust components, helping it produce a reported 330 rear-wheel horsepower. The brakes, wheels, and other components reportedly have also been upgraded. - Based on the Mustang GT, the Shelby GT was powered by Ford's 4.6-liter OHC V-8. Upgrades specific to the package included a cold-air induction system, performance exhaust system, and unique calibration. The package was rated at 319 horsepower by the manufacturer when new. The seller, however, has reportedly upped this example's performance ante with a host of upgrades, including a Steeda cold-air intake, Ford Racing intake manifold, Ford Racing camshafts, BBK chrome long-tube headers and high-flow cats, MSD coil packs, Ford racing plug wires, Ford Racing cam covers, and MBRP mufflers. The package was reportedly chassis-dyno tuned on 93-octane at EFI Logics, in Bethel, Connecticut, where it produced 330 horsepower at the wheels. The engine is said to start and run well. There are no reported leaks with it or the five-speed manual transmission, which has been fitted with a Hurst shifter and sends power to a 3.55-geared rear axle. - the transmission and rear axle fluid were changed recently, and that there is also a set of rare Terlingua racing engine caps. The car runs excellently. All 215 C models for 2008 rolled out of Shelby's Las Vegas-area conversion facility painted Grabber Orange, with additional Shelby GT trim, including a hood scoop, hood pins, unique grille, and silver stripes.- the paintwork shines well and is in overall great condition, while noting the provided Carfax report shows previous minor damage to the left-rear quarter panel.- some minor paint chips and light surface scratches in the finish, while the glass and complementing seals are described as excellent. All of the exterior lighting is reported functional and the seller also reports the front splash guard has been repaired, while a black grille was installed.
The Shelby GT's black leather-trimmed cabin is based on the production Mustang GT, with unique sill plates, a dash plaque showing the car's unique Shelby number, and a Hurst short-throw shifter. All the C cars also received a personally signed Carroll Shelby signature on the passenger's-side sun visor. There are also Shelby headrests. The interior presentation in this example is described as excellent, , with only apparently minor wear showing in the driver's floormat and a noted defect at the top of the driver's seat. I have a replacement set of mats that will be included. The cabin is reportedly in stock condition, apart from the Hurst shifter. The air conditioning, gauges, and interior lights are reported functional, along with the original Shaker 500 CD audio system. - As part of the Shelby GT package, the suspension was upgraded with a Ford Racing Handling Package, which included new dampers all around, lowering springs, thicker stabilizer bars, and a strut tower brace. I have reportedly upgraded the car further with PowerStop slotted brake rotors and performance brake pads. It also wears new Shelby CS40 aluminum wheels, with no reported scuffing, and new Nitto rubber, which reportedly have only a few miles. I has the original wheels, while also noting the new tires rub when you take a tight turn. Additional documentation includes the certificate from the Shelby Registry, along with additional receipts and the dyno-tuning documentation stored in a binder, and a Carfax vehicle history report. Exclusivity has always been a Shelby hallmark and this one-of-215 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-Cs is unique with its additional performance enhancements.
