 Vehicle Description
BMW's second-generation M3'and its first with twin-cam, inline-six power'arrived on the scene in the mid-1990s to almost universal praise from driving enthusiasts and media alike for its quickness, handling prowess and grace under pressure. It earned titles such as the best handling car to go along with plenty of trophies in sports car racing. This 1996 BMW M3 Coupe is said to have been owned by a professional mechanic who rebuilt it completely, both mechanically and cosmetically. - this manual-equipped E36 coupe has been given extensive performance upgrades to the suspension and drivetrain and is in like new condition. For model year 1996, BMW offered the E36 M3 was in the United States with the OBD II-compliant S52B32 3.2-liter, DOHC, 24-valve inline-six, which was rated at 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque and delivers power to the rear wheels via a ZF Type C five-speed manual transmission. The engine is original to the car. He continues, The 3.2-liter S52 inline-six is modified with an M50-specification intake manifold as well as Shark Injector engine management software. Work cited to have been completed between 2018 and 2021 includes rebuilding the VANOS variable-valve timing system, overhauling the cooling system, replacing the engine mounts and the fitting of a Turner Motorsport/Corsa Performance exhaust system. The seller estimates, Mileage since the engine work is probably less than 500. Engine start is simply to turn the ignition key. The engine idles smoothly and there is zero smoke on start up. He goes on to state, The engine is well sealed with no evidence of leaks or weeps around it, the transmission, or the rear axles. About the transmission, he continues, The five-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly, without any clunks or thumps or vagueness.  The seller cites the Cosmos Black Metallic paint as being in excellent condition and says it has been professionally ceramic coated. - no body blemishes, scratches, dents or paint chips and says, The sunroof operates properly without any issues. Exterior glass and windows are also characterized as excellent.- there are no scratches or cracks to report. He also says, All weather seals are in excellent condition.  No cracks or missing chunks. No evidence of water leaks. There is no evidence of rust repairs and other than a set of European-style headlamps, no other exterior modifications. About the lighting,, All exterior lights work correctly, including the high and low beam headlights, tail lights and brake lights. The cabin features heated power-adjustable front seats upholstered in Modena Nappa leather, along with matching door panel inserts and carpets. All seat adjustments work without restrictions and all leather is in excellent condition, save for a very small cut in center of the rear right side cushion. Carpeting is characterized as being in excellent condition, as is the roof's headliner.  No missing trim pieces are reported and all gauges are to work correctly. - , The car has a working factory installed Harmon Kardon stereo system. All power windows are represented as working correctly, as well as the power locking system for the doors. - 's report, no modifications have been made to the interior. - A stock E36 M3 possesses formidable handling capabilities, but that has not stopped enthusiasts from improving on that greatness and this example is no different. Suspension upgrades, include Bilstein struts, Koni shocks, H&R lowering springs, a Rogue Engineering front strut tower brace, as well as replacement of the control arms, wheel bearings, and rear subframe bushings. Shocks and struts are represented as being new with very low mileage on them. The seller declares there are no visible leaks from them, nor any signs of cracked or damaged bushings.- no problems with the power steering, both in operation and in terms of showing any leaks from the pump or lines. He also adds that there are zero issues with the four-wheel antilock disc brakes. The factory Style 39 DS2 (Double Spoke, Type 2) 17-inch alloy wheels are described as being in excellent condition, with no curb rash or pitting noted, with the seller adding no vibrations are felt at highway speeds. They are fitted with Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires, measuring 225/45R17 up front and 245/40R17 out back and show date codes from the second half of 2020 with the owner noting they have less than 50 miles of wear on them.  This 1996 BMW M3 Coupe is to have been the personal project of a professional mechanic.  It is reported to be in like-new condition, despite its age and high mileage. Reputed to be part of an extensive German car collection, the current owner needs to make room for other cars.
