 Vehicle Description
The name -Delray- does not appear anywhere on this 1954 Chevrolet 210 Delray Club Coupe. Chevy did, however, used the name extensively in its advertising for the premium version of its 210 Club Coupe, noting the extensive use of -durable, washable vinyl- on many surfaces, including the seats, door cards, and even the headliner. - a number of mechanical and cosmetic upgrades performed on the car, including a repaint in its correct factory colors of Saddle Brown and India Ivory. Among the mechanical issues addressed during the Chevy's refurbishment are a new rear main seal, correction of power steering and exhaust leaks, new wheel cylinders and the installation of an electric wiper motor. The seller is said to have undertaken the repairs with assistance from a technical advisor from the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America.- that the car's underside shows surface rust only. This 210 is powered by Chevrolet's 235-cu.in. OHV inline-six. With a compression ratio of 7.5:1, the engine received its fuel mixture via a single carburetor and was rated by the manufacturer at 125 horsepower when new and mated to the Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission, as here. The seller's list of repairs and maintenance done to the Chevrolet since he has owned it include a repair to the rear main seal and the -elimination of a hole to repair a leaky exhaust.- The originality of this Chevy's engine is uncertain, but it reportedly idles and runs without smoke. No issues with the Powerglide transmission are noted. Any powertrain leaks are said to be very limited. The engine bay presents as stock and generally clean.- that the repaint (an India Ivory roof over the Saddle Brown body) exhibits high gloss but he also reports numerous small dents under the finish, -possibly the result of hail damage.- No issues with the body seals, which have some overspray, are reported. - the Chevy has surface rust only on the underside, and that a previous owner apparently applied undercoating to the rear underside. The spare tire well was patched and refinished. The chrome appears to be complete and in very good overall condition. The glass is described as good to excellent. All lights, including added back-up lights, are said to work. The Chevrolet is equipped with an external sun visor. The underside shows widespread surface corrosion, through the seller asserts -no structural rust.- There  appears to be a new exhaust system as well - The new brown and white seat facings, which match the two-tone exterior, have reportedly been professionally installed and present as being in very good condition, with no visible damage. The carpeting is described as pristine. The headliner is reported to be original and without flaws. No interior trim is said to be missing, and the seller notes that the Chevy door panels are in mint condition. The Chevrolet is accessorized with an interior traffic light indicator, AM radio, FM tuner, and clock. All gauges are reported to work. The AM radio is said to work, with the FM converter partially connected. The heater is reportedly functional. - The Chevy's power steering unit was reportedly repaired and is now said to be free of leaks. I have no current information on further chassis work, but notes that the Chevy exhibits minimal road vibration at speed. The chassis components seem to work properly.- the manual drum brakes perform satisfactorily after replacement of the master cylinder and two wheel cylinders, plus new brake lines. The wheels are reportedly balanced, and the P215/75R15 Hankook Optima whitewall tires have minimum wear. From The John McTaggart Collection, this refurbished 1954 Chevrolet 210 Club Coupe appears to be in good, functional condition. It looks to be ready for its next driver who may want to cruise in it, or take it to the next level with a full restoration.
