 Vehicle Description
This all-steel 1936 Ford Fordor Sedan Street Rod was reportedly built in the early Nineties by the previous owner, who sold it to the current seller 14 years ago. The original frame has been updated with an independent front suspension, power steering, front disc brakes, and a Ford 8-inch rear end. A Ford 351 Windsor engine and C-6 automatic transmission have replaced the original flathead V8 and three-speed manual tranny.- this '36 Ford is a fun car to drive and great for travel due to its comfort and roominess. He has used it for weekend cruising and attending local car shows. The engine is a 351-cu.in. OHV V8 that was factory rebuilt and installed when the car was restored and modified in the Nineties. The provided photos show an Edelbrock intake manifold and tubular exhaust headers.- that cold starts involve setting the automatic choke and turning the key. He runs the engine on fast idle for one minute before tapping the gas to bring down the idle. There are no engine leaks but the transmission will leak from the shifter seal after sitting for a couple of weeks. The leak stops if the car is driven weekly. The C-6 three-speed automatic transmission shifts through all the gears smoothly with no vibrations or odd noises, in the seller's opinion. The rear differential is a Ford 8-inch unit. The body on this -humpback- trunk sedan is all steel with no current rust or evidence of rust repairs, , who doesn't know about any previous rust history. He calls the paint color Firemist Red and says the paint quality is very good. He replaced a rear fender in 2010 and had some touchup work done then. Currently there are a few chips on the front fenders and a small scratch on the trunk. The seller rates the glass quality as very good with no cracks or scratches and adds that the door seals are very good with no evidence of leakage. He thinks the trunk seal may be incorrect as it can leak. The rear-mounted spare tire and rear bumper have been removed and the license plate has been inset. The front bumper is a ribbed aftermarket item. The running boards are smooth with three protective strips instead of the original rubber mats. The roof has the original-style fabric covering - - the two-tone maroon and white upholstery as -high quality cloth in very good condition- with no tears or fading. All adjustments work properly. He admits there are some worn areas in the carpet, but no holes, and adds that the carpet and console could benefit from an update. The headliner was replaced about 10 years ago and is in excellent condition, in the seller's opinion. The VDO gauges work and look great. The audio system is an aftermarket AM/FM CD player, and the seller states that the CD player works, but the radio has no reception. - The original front beam axle has been upgraded with a Mustang II-style IFS rack-and-pinion kit that has front disc brakes. The suspension was inspected and greased six months ago,- the U-joints were replaced at that time. - the power steering has a very good feel and no play or leaks. The shocks and bushings appear good, in the seller's opinion. There are no brake issues. The billet wheels are from Ultra and are wrapped in P205/75R15 (front) and P235/75R15 (rear) Michelin tires of unknown age. DOT date codes are not visible in the images provided, but dry rot is present on the sidewalls, indicating that the tires should be replaced before the vehicle is driven any distance. This 1936 Ford Fordor Sedan Street Rod was bought from the person who built it in the Nineties. He is selling it to make room for his next project.
