 Vehicle Description
Chevrolet called the totally restyled 1947 pickups Advanced Design and they most certainly were when compared to the previous generation trucks. A hit when new, the smooth profile has remained a favorite with street rodders and restorers alike. A robust restoration/custom parts industry has bolstered their popularity. This bright orange 1947 Chevrolet half-ton pickup has been extensively modified making it much sleeker than stock counterparts. The top has been chopped, the hood streamlined and all unnecessary trim items removed. The engine compartment is highly detailed and houses a built big-block V-8. The interior is swathed in luxurious leather. The restoration/modification process was fully documented. The highly detailed, super smooth engine bay is finished as perfectly as the exterior. An equally detailed and rebuilt 468-cubic-inch Chevy big-block V-8 sits between the smooth inner fender panels. Wiring, fuel lines and various accessories are hidden. The block is body colored, too. The Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold is mated to a Holley four-barrel carburetor. Cold starts involve two throttle pumps and a little low rpm chugging as the engine warms up. There is no smoke or leaks and the Turbo HydraMatic 400 three-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly. A lot of custom bodywork was performed before this 1947 Chevy pickup was coated with Nissan Orange paint in 2005. The hood has ghost flames. The biggest alteration was chopping the top two inches. The hood's center seam was eliminated and the hood was pancaked (flattened) two inches. The work appears to be so well executed that it looks stock until parked next to a truck with an original hood. The door handles were shaved, the headlights Frenched and a rolled rear pan was fabricated. The firewall was totally smoothed and recessed. The bed planks are varnished Cherry that nicely match the paint. - the paint quality as excellent with no swirls and only a few minor chips below the grille. - The interior is as customized as the exterior. The bench seat was professionally upholstered in top quality tan and beige leather. The door panels were done in matching two-tone leather and the dashboard was also covered in leather. The bench seat has a fold-down center armrest. The headliner is the same tan leather as the seat. The gauges are by Beede and the seller states that the speedometer reads faster than the true speed. An aftermarket stereo works fine. The carpet is unblemished and the same goes for all glass and seals. - The front suspension uses Heidt's independent Mustang II-style components with 11-inch disc brakes. The rear end is a Chrysler product with drum brakes. - the truck tracks straight with no drifting or other annoyances from the rack-and-pinion steering. All suspension bushings and related components were new when the truck was restored. The tires are BFGoodrich, sized P225/70R15 and mounted on American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. The rolling stock was installed at the time of the truck's buildup. The 1947 Chevrolet half-ton Advanced Design street rod pickup comes with an extensive build book detailing the restoration/customization process. Receipts and instructions/manuals are included. The builder of this highly modified 1947 Chevrolet Advanced Design half-ton pickup built several professional quality street rods, but sadly, this one was his last. He passed in 2012 and the truck went to his daughter and son-in-law. They have only driven the truck about 100 miles a year and would like the truck to go to someone who could maximize the truck's full enjoyment potential.
