 Vehicle Description
After a 30-year hiatus, Pontiac revived the legendary GTO in 2004 as a modern American muscle car, but with Australian roots. It was based on GM subsidiary Holden's Monaro sports coupe, which was rear-wheel drive and V-8 powered ' the only configuration that would fly with Stateside enthusiasts. This first-year Red Hot 2004 Pontiac GTO is powered by the now-classic LS1 5.7-liter OHV V-8. This one is also a two-owner, six-speed manual car with only 15,000 miles on the odometer. - it has also survived the past 17 years with its two owners resisting the temptation to modify. This GTO is reportedly as stock as the day it rolled out of the factory and on to the transport ship in Australia. In what is undoubtedly a rarity, this GTO's LS1 5.7-liter V-8 is to be all-original and unmodified ' channeling 350 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque through its six-speed manual gearbox and out to the independent rear axle. The combo was strong enough to push the GTO into the 13-second range at the drag strip, along with 0-60 sprints of less than 6 seconds.- the engine starts and runs as new, and the same goes for the shift performance of the six-speed. No reported leaks, either. - the Red Hot paintwork on this 21st-century GTO is perfect, with no blemishes and no rust in the body. The glass and complementing seals are also described as being in perfect condition, with no reported chips or cracks in the glass and no leaks at the seals. All of the exterior lighting works normally, , and the 17-inch aluminum wheels are said to be blemish-free. This GTO's black leather interior is said to be like new, from the condition of the seat covers, carpet, and headliner, to the functionality of the interior lights, orange-face gauges, and air-conditioning system. There is some visible wear in the driver's seat in the provided photos. Everything in the cabin is reported to work normally and it appears to be very clean. The factory audio system is a Blaupunkt-based system with a six-disc CD changer and, yes, it works normally, too. - - the chassis, suspension, and brake components are in factory-stock condition, with no known needs or issues, and no known previous service. In fact, the seller reports even the tires are original. Additional paperwork includes a Carfax vehicle history report. The 2004 Pontiac GTO reintroduced a muscle car legend and, like the originals, many were quickly modified. This one, with its LS1 engine and six-speed transmission, has survived its first 17 years with low mileage and no mods ' a comparative rarity these days. And as the seller reports, the car is perfect inside and out, and that it still has that new-car smell.
