 Vehicle Description
This 1948 Chevrolet Stylemaster Coupe street rod was built and his late father. The car reportedly came from Texas, with the seller claiming that it has never had any rust. Its pristine body so impressed the seller that , I have been building cars for 43 years and have only seen one other car this rust-free other than a brand new car. The car has been very well sorted out and everything works as it should and is very dependable and pleasant to drive . - The engine is a 350-cubic inch small-block Chevy V-8 from a 1977 El Camino that was rebuilt and has 12,700 miles on it. It features a four-barrel Quadrajet carburetor, ceramic coated rams horn exhaust manifolds, an aluminum radiator, and aluminum valve covers and air cleaner.- the engine starts right up with no smoke or leaks. He rates the dual exhaust as quiet for a very pleasant ride. The rebuilt Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 three-speed automatic transmission is equipped with a lockup torque converter and is said to shift well. The rear end has 2.42:1 gears and came from an S-10 pickup, who reports that cold starts use the automatic choke and the car starts without smoke. Regarding possible leaks, , I like clean garage floors so there are no leaks from anything. This 1948 Chevrolet coupe started out as a rust-free Southern car that has never has any rust. The two-piece hood was welded together and smoothed, the door handles were shaved, the trunk hinges were moved inside the trunk, the trunk emblems and handle were shaved, a newer gas door was installed in the right rear fender, and headlights were frenched before the GM Black Cherry paint was applied 24 years ago, who says it still shines like glass. He does note some bubbling around the belt molding and by the bottom of the quarter windows as shown in the photos. There is also some faint shrinking by the grille and a dent in the right rear fender behind the gas door . The windshield has been flush fitted with the center bar eliminated. The tinted glass, seals, and channel runs are new so there are no leaks. The lights all work but the left headlight has a crack so a pair of new headlights are included with the car. The bumpers were shaved and rechromed. - The interior and upholstery is in perfect shape in the seller's opinion. There are bench seats in front and back for lots of passenger space. The door panels match the seat upholstery. Sound deadener was added before the cut pile carpet was installed. The seller rates the carpet and headliner condition as perfect and says all the VDO gauges work including the clock. The stereo system is from Blaupunkt and uses custom kick panel speakers. The Vintage Air A/C is reported to be ice cold . The trunk was upholstered and carpeted and has room for a space saver spare tire. The tilt steering column is topped by a billet wheel. - The front suspension has a rack-and-pinion kit with tubular A-arms, Bilstein coilover shocks, Chevy S-10 spindles, and disc brakes. The GM differential is supported by Posies Super Slide parallel rear springs. The power steering doesn't leak and tracks straight without any play. Two leaves were removed from the spring pack to soften and perfect the ride, in the seller's opinion. The wheels are 15x8-inch Corvette rally wheels with new tires. This 1948 Chevrolet Stylemaster Coupe street rod comes with all the paperwork that came with the car when the seller acquired it and a photo album of the car's build/restoration. The car is being sold so the seller can focus on other projects.
