 Vehicle Description
Chevrolet totally restyled their light duty pickups for 1955 and the result was a lineup of trucks that are still admired today by both restorers and modifiers. The same cab design lasted until 1959, but the 1955-1957 single-headlight models have proven the most popular. There are myriad reproduction and customization parts sources plus the spacious engine compartments make power upgrades easy. This 1955 Chevrolet 3100 Series half-ton short-bed, small rear window pickup has been customized to make it stand out from the crowd. The seller calls the truck a real eye-catcher and a great runner. This '55 Chevrolet half-ton pickup is powered by a 350-cubic inch small-block Chevy V-8. The seller doesn't know the history of the engine, but it runs great, starts easily, idles normally, and doesn't smoke on start up. - there are no leaks or weeps that he knows of. The engine has an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and ceramic-coated block-hugger headers. A Be Cool radiator with twin electric fans cools the engine and an Optima battery helps start it. The transmission is a GM Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 three-speed automatic with a B&M shifter that provides smooth shifting, . A two-tone burnt orange over black paint job was performed approximately six months ago and remains in excellent condition, . There are no blemishes, scratches, or dents and the new paint job is a real eye catcher in the seller's opinion. All the glass is in good condition with no scratches or cracks and the door seals are of good quality with no evidence of leaks. Past rust issues are unknown, but there is no present rust. All the emblems have been shaved and the original gas cap location was filled as the tank was moved under the bed. The Chevrolet tailgate letters are chromed - High-back later model bucket seats with gray cloth upholstery and folding inner armrests have replaced the original bench seat.- the seat material is in good condition, but the driver's side seat bolster is breaking down. The carpet is in good condition and the headliner has been beautifully redone, . VDO gauges have been added to the modified dashboard and a Grant wooden steering wheel tops the tilt column. - The braking system has been upgraded with power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drum brakes that work fine. The power steering points straight, but there is some play in the wheel. Suspension service history is unknown as it is in the same condition as when the seller bought the truck two years ago. There are no leaks or obvious problems . Tire age is also unknown but the seller estimates remaining tread life at 65%. The wheels are Chevy rally wheels with trim rings and smoothy center caps. The seller bought this 1955 Chevrolet 3100 Series half-ton pickup two years ago and only used it for pleasure rides. It has been stored indoors and is being sold because the seller doesn't need it anymore.
