 Vehicle Description
This nicely modified, yet 1970s-period appropriate 1975 Ford F-100 Custom sports a built 300-cu.in. inline-six under the hood and an automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels. Its customer-upholstered interior features modern, professionally sewn materials, but still has the look and feel of a '70s-era pickup. This is no LS swap. I have taken time, effort and expense to build the truck's 300-cu.in. inline-six. The engine bay appears to be immaculate in the photos. To the seller's knowledge, the engine is original to the truck. During a rebuild, the original cast-iron intake manifold was replaced with an Offenhauser intake. These single-plane intakes are suitable for either Holley or Carter carburetors, but the seller went a step further and opted for a Holley Sniper EFI system, which appears to be neatly plumbed and wired in the photos. The Sniper EFI Master Kit retails for almost $1,500 alone. The engine is cooled with a new aluminum radiator and dual electric fans on temperature sensors. The alternator is a high output 3G alternator, a modern one-wire power generator that Ford introduced in 1994. The transmission is a C4 three-speed automatic, and at the rear, the differential features a tall 2.75:1 ratio for highway cruising. The seller mentions no bodywork to the short-bed F-100, mentioning that it was 100% rust-free when the truck was painted in the current shade of brown in the spring of 2018. The two-stage paint appears to be in very good condition aside from some light orange peel, and the seller mentions no blemishes. The chrome and aluminum trim appear to be in excellent condition with no corrosion, scratches or pitting. These trucks didn't have a lot in the way of trim, aside from the F-100 and Custom emblems, and dual chrome sport mirrors which appear to be in excellent shape. The interior of the bed was sprayed with bedliner material and looks barely used - Inside, the truck has received nearly as much attention as the outside. The original bench seat has been retained, but it's been professionally reupholstered in brown leather, with tan tweed cloth inserts for the seating surfaces. The seat appears to be in new condition. The cab features a stock partial headliner, which looks to be in very good condition. The two-tone door panels match the upholstery and look great in the photographs. Armrests, door handles and window cranks all appear present and undamaged. When the truck was painted, the metal surfaces of the cab's interior were painted at the same time. The steering wheel is the original two-spoke Ford unit that came with the truck, which has some significant cracks where the spokes meet the rim. The dash pad appears to be new, and dyed to match the body color. The instrument panel looks to be in original condition, with the speedometer, fuel and alternator gauges reported to be in working condition. The Sniper EFI system has a small control panel mounted to the transmission hump that provides significantly more data than the stock gauges. The center stack features controls for the heater, and a Kenwood KDC-168U AM/FM/CD head unit, with a front-mounted USB port and aux-in port. The floor is covered with a color-keyed carpet which appears to be in excellent shape, protected by aftermarket floor mats. - I have more than a half-dozen photos showing the undercarriage. The underbody, frame, suspension mounting points and body mounts all appear to be in excellent, rust-free condition. The underside of the truck has been painted black to protect against future corrosion. The truck has power steering, and the seller mentions no leaks from the pump or hydraulic lines. - it tracks straight down the road with no wandering. I have no comments on suspension service, but the front and rear springs appear to be in excellent condition with no rust, and he indicates that the bushings and shocks are in good condition. The brakes are unassisted with a dual-reservoir master cylinder, with drums all around. The ten-hole alloy wheels are from a late 1980s or early 1990s Ford F-150, with the correct center caps and appear to have no curb rash. Tires are 30x9.5x15 Firestone Destination A/Ts with date codes from 2017. The seller mentions that they're like new. . This 1975 Ford F-100 Custom appears to be a solid, Dentside, short-box truck with some major improvements in the engine bay, and tasteful upgrades in the interior. There are a few minor odds and ends for the next owner to have fun sorting out, but the difficult part seems to have been done. This appears to be a turnkey truck that you can start to enjoy immediately.
