 Vehicle Description
Twenty-four years of ownership is a relationship with a car, and that's how long this 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible'with its numbers-matching 327/350 engine'has been with the seller. It was a Bloomington Gold-certified car in 1995, before it joined the Blackhawk Collection, in California, who also reports purchasing the comparatively rare Milano Maroon-over-maroon and L79/four-speed-powered roadster in March 1998. Shortly thereafter, a body-on restoration was performed on it. In the years since, it has reportedly been used sparingly and maintained in stock specification. Everything works, notes the seller, about the car's mechanical status, adding that, apart from a few noted paint nicks, it is also in excellent-appearing condition. - According to photos provide that show the partial VIN stamped into the engine block, this Corvette is powered by its original L79 327-cu.in, 350-horsepower engine, which is backed by a four-speed gearbox. A rebuild history of the engine is unknown, but it starts easily, with a couple of pumps of the gas pedal, and runs well. - there's no smoke from this small-block engine, but a minor oil drip on the garage floor. Similarly, the transmission is said to shift perfectly, but the seller notes that oil finds its way to the transmission cover after driving. The Milano Maroon paintwork on this Sting Ray Convertible is said to be in excellent condition , who adds that it was painted in November 1999, as part of the car's body-on restoration. The Milano Maroon is the original color, per the MM code on the trim tag. There are no reported scratches in the paint, but a few paint chips on the nose and few behind each rear tires. Additionally, all of the exterior trim and chrome appear to be in very good condition, and the glass is also said to be in excellent condition, with no scratches or cracks. The seals were reportedly replaced during the restoration and are said to remain in good, soft condition, with no known leaks. There are no known leaks with the white convertible top, either, and it is reportedly a more recent replacement on the car. The seller adds that all of the exterior lighting work, as corroborated by a recent state inspection. - This Corvette's restored maroon vinyl interior appears to be in very good condition, with the no rips, cracks or tears in the vinyl seat covers. The carpet is also said to be in excellent condition, with no holes or discoloration, and the same is said about the door panels and dash pad. The wood-rimmed steering wheels appears to be in very good condition, with light visible wear and a little apparent pitting on the horn button. All of the interior trim is said to be intact and in very good condition, while all of the gauges are reported functional ' including the clock. The car has manual windows and an AM/FM radio with a power antenna. All reportedly work normally. - The chassis and suspension components have reportedly been restored and maintained in stock specification since with no issues or needs noted , who adds that there is no known rust in the frame and that the chassis remains clean and well detailed. Additionally, the suspension was reportedly serviced last fall, included greased fittings and tightening linkages, where necessary. The shocks and bushings have also been replaced within the past few years, notes the seller. The car has manual steering and brakes, and rolls on factory-style knock-off wheels that are wrapped with Bridgestone radial tires. Apart from minor pitting on a couple of the center caps, the wheels are reported to look great, while the tires are said to have only about 5,000 miles on them. Additional documentation for this 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible includes a Bloomington Gold certificate from 1995. After 24 years of ownership that included its restoration, the seller of this rare maroon-on-maroon C2 sums it up succinctly: It's a numbers-matching, factory-correct car and everything works.
