With styling by Ford design chief E.T. Bob Gregorie, under direction from Edsel Ford, the 1940 Ford Deluxe range offered fresh styling and the popular flathead V8 engine. This 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible is to have undergone a comprehensive restoration. There's no known rust in the body and the transmission was recently rebuilt. The car drives very well. - the 221-cu.in. L-head V8 is original and runs well.Recent service included a rebuilt carburetor, rebuilt water pumps, and a rebuilt coil.The transmission was also recently rebuilt and has a new clutch and other hardware.Repainted during the restoration, the black paintwork is said to be a 9.5 out of 10.The seller asserts there's -no damage or rust- in the body.The power-operated top and its canvas roof are said to be in -excellent- shape.All the exterior chrome, glass, and seals are also said to be in -excellent- condition.The maroon vinyl interior also appears restored and in very good condition.There appear to be a couple holes in the upholstered trim behind the driver's seat.The floor is covered with rubberized mats.Lap belts have been added to the front seats.Photos show an apparently clean, well-detailed chassis.- the car's Coker whitewall tires are new.They're mounted on stock red-finished steel wheels with trim rings and Deluxe covers.
