The example offered'a 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible with a 350 and a three-speed automatic transmission'was reportedly the recipient of a 2008 body-on restoration that included new paint, a rebuilt engine and other mechanical attention, and a refurbished interior featuring replacement leather seat covers. It shows and drives great, who reports purchasing the car after the restoration and using it strictly for pleasure drives. -- that the 350 engine is original and was rebuilt during the restoration, by the previous owner. It was factory rated at 270 horsepower and a strong 360 lb-ft of torque, drawing air through a Quadrajet carburetor topped with a dual-snorkel air cleaner. The rebuilt engine is said to start easily, with no smoke, but has a minor oil leak around the timing cover. Additionally, the three-speed automatic transmission is said to shift smoothly and has no reported issues. - this Corvette was originally Ontario Orange, but the previous owner had the color changed to silver during the restoration. The paintwork is said to be in excellent condition, with no nicks, chips, or scratches, but a couple of small blemishes where the rear of the convertible top meets the body. The chrome also appears in very good condition, while the vacuum-operated headlamps are reported to work normally. Additionally, the glass and seals are described as all good, with the door windows original and the windshield an older replacement said to be in very good condition, with no reported cracks or chips. The convertible top's condition is described as like new. Inside, the black interior appears in very good condition, with no apparent cracks, splits, or holes in the leather seat covers or carpet, both of which were reportedly replaced during the restoration. The steering wheel, door panels, and dash pad also appear in very good shape, with little apparent wear.- the gauges are functional, but the clock and the fiber-optic light monitoring system do not work. The heater and air conditioning systems are also functional, with the AC converted to R-134a. The car retains its stock AM/FM radio, which is said to work, but with noticeable static. - - the chassis shows surface corrosion, but no known rust-through, while the suspension and braking elements were addressed during the restoration, including replacement of the rear transverse leaf spring with a fiberglass part. Gas shocks were also installed. All of the suspension and brake components are said to be in very good working order, with no known issues or needs.- BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires were installed in 2014 and remain in like new condition, showing almost all of their tread. They're mounted on factory Rally wheels that are said to be blemish-free. Additional paperwork for this 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible includes a number of service receipts. The '71 model year may not have marked any significant design or engine milestones for the Corvette, but it retained the classic Stingray silhouette, with chrome bumpers and a torquey small-block.
