 Features
 Description
This 1940 International D40 pickup street rod is one of those vehicles that fits the you don't see one of those everyday mold perfectly. This example has been extensively customized, including a chopped top and a rare Chevrolet 348 W powerplant, but the most noticeable thing is the wild Pagan Gold metalflake paint job. The brilliant exterior is contrasted by a custom white interior. - Seldom seen in hot rodding circles, the Chevrolet 348-cu.in. V-8, more commonly known as a -W- motor, was one the Bow Tie brand's first big-block engines. The seller doesn't know the history of the engine or what, if any, internal modifications may have been done, but he does feel that the engine miles are very few. The obvious performance upgrade is the tri-power carburetion with an electric choke on the center carburetor. The engine has tubular exhaust headers. The finned valve covers are no name units.- that cold starts are normal for an older engine and that the idle is fine and without smoke. He does admit that the engine weeps a little oil. The transmission is a Muncie four-speed manual with a Hurst shifter that shifts as expected. The all-steel International body has been chopped 4½ inches. The back of the pickup bed was fitted with a narrowed 1961 Ford Galaxie taillight section. Bumpers have been removed from both ends of the truck. The bold color is House of Kolor Pagan Gold Flake that was applied over a rust-free body. He rates the paint condition as excellent, with no blemishes, and adds that the glass and seals are all excellent, as well. The bed has a storage box with Corn Binder engraved on the lid. The box wood matches the bed planks. The gas filler is at the back of the bed. - The bench seat was covered in rolled and pleated white vinyl. The top of the seatback has a custom-stitched design that's echoed on the door panels. Gold piping highlights the white upholstery. A chrome tilt steering wheel is topped with a white steering wheel from a 1961 Chevrolet Corvair. The familiar-looking dashboard comes from a 1955 Chevy. The windows are power operated.- that the speedometer isn't hooked up. - The front suspension uses Mustang II-style independent components with power-assisted disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering; the rear suspension uses parallel leaf springs. The front end was aligned two years ago. - the steering play is typical for an old truck and that the brakes and bushings are both good. The Cragar custom wheels are described as being like new and the whitewall tires have very little wear, but their age is unknown. This thoroughly customized and highly detailed 1940 International D40 pickup street rod is being sold so the seller can buy another vehicle. With its early Chevy big-block V-8 and bright House of Kolor finish, it's available for the right bidder who will never mistake this one for another vehicle.
