 Description
This 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK350 Hard-Top Convertible is from the model line's third generation. Per the Carfax, it's been driven less than 62,500 miles in its 12 years on the road. With the discontinuation of the company's small roadster lineup in 2020, this car is an example of the final generation of SLKs, and one of 4,595 sold in the United States in 2012. The small roadster resurgence of the 1990s saw entries from a number of the major luxury brands, including Mercedes-Benz. However, unlike its competitors, Mercedes fitted its inaugural entry with a folding hard top, giving the car the attributes of both a closed coupe and a convertible. Introduced in 1996, the R170 Mercedes SLK was designed under the leadership of the marque's legendary Bruno Sacco. Billed as a then-contemporary reinterpretation of the iconic W121 190SL, that first R170 SLK featured a four-cylinder engine, as did the 190. The two cars also had identical wheelbases, at 94 inches. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK 350 used the then-all-new 3.5-liter, 60-degree, M276 DE 35 DOHC V6 engine. With a 12.3:1 compression ratio, direct piezo fuel injection and multi-spark ignition, factory output was at 306 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 273 lb-ft of torque at 3,500. Mercedes' seven-speed 722.904 automatic transmission routed power to the rear wheels. - the engine and transmission are original to the car and have not been rebuilt. Regarding cold starts, Enter the car, sit, and turn key. No pedal press needed. He states there are no leaks or weeps from the engine or the transmission'the shifting of which he characterizes as being, Smooth as silk and powerful. No powertrain modifications are cited. The SLK's 2011 re-skin incorporated the radiator air intake design from the 190SL. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG's grille also inspired the front-end treatment. The seller declares, This low mileage car is a strong grade 2 with perfect paint. Stated to be a weekend driver, never driven in winter, the Iridium Gray Metallic paint is, As new with but three small stone chips on the hood, of which he provides photographs. He also depicts the folding hardtop as being 100 percent functional. - there are no body rust, body seal, nor leak issues. He also attests there are no issues with the glass or windows. He goes on to state, All exterior lighting is 100 percent functional. No body modifications are reported - The interior is flawless, as can be seen in pictures, who continues, Everything is in perfect working order.  Indeed, the Ash gray leather upholstering the seats does show quite well in the photographs. So does the black carpeting, which the seller describes as being in excellent condition.  All seat adjustments work, 's report. Interior trim is to have no issues and all gauges are described as functioning'including the COMAND infotainment system. The audio system is described as being as fitted by the factory and depicted as being functional.Power windows and door locks are 100 percent, and the climate control system, including the Airscarf system built into the seats to conduct warm air to the backs of the occupants' necks, works. No interior modifications are reported.    - New Yokohama ADVAN tires were mounted in 2022. This is borne out by the DOT date codes in the accompanying photographs, which indicate the tires were produced in March of 2021.  Minor instances of curb rash are evident in a couple of the photos and the seller discloses a scratch on the left front alloy wheel. - the steering as, Straight and true with zero play, and says, There are no fluid leaks whatsoever anywhere, from the power steering system. The suspension system was serviced within the past two years 's disclosures. - the shocks and bushings as being, Very good, and says, Ride quality is commensurate with the sport suspension. He also states there are no issues with the brakes, nor modifications to the suspension system.I will also provide inspection records for this Iridium Gray 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK350 Hard-Top Convertible. The car's second owner,, We purchased the car from a neighbor who also rarely drove it and always stored it in a garage, he continues. There are absolutely no issues with the car and all is in perfect working order. By all appearances, this is a nice example of the Mercedes-Benz R172, and is described as being a strong grade two with perfect paint.
