 Description
Those with M6 lust in their heart will likely find much to yearn for with this 1987 BMW M6 Coupe, in Cinnabar Red over beige leather. In the seller's own words: It is factory-original, unrestored and unmolested, and owned by me for 20 years. Additionally, the seller notes he's the second owner. There are just over 63,000 miles on the odometer and, reportedly, a new set of reproduction TRX tires. The car runs and drives like new. Lust, indeed. - The M6's 3.5-liter DOHC inline-six was renowned in it day as one of the highest-output naturally aspirated engines and in this example was rated at 256 horsepower when new. The seller asserts the engine is original and never rebuilt. It still has the factory oil coating preservative, he notes. It reportedly starts, idles, and runs like it did on the showroom floor, with no smoke and no leaks. Additionally, the five-speed transmission is said to shift like new. The drivetrain also features a 3.91-geared rear axle. - this M6 wears its original Cinnabar Red paintwork, which appears in very good condition. There are no body blemishes, scratches, dents, or paint chips, he notes. There are no swirl marks, either, and reportedly no rust. The exterior trim also appears in good original condition and the seller notes there are no issues with the operation of the factory sunroof. All the glass and seals are also said to be in excellent condition, with no reported cracks or chips in the windshield and no signs of leaks with the seals. All the exterior lighting is reported to work normally, too. Inside, the original leather-trimmed cockpit appears in very good original condition. In fact, the seller notes the seat covers, carpet, and headliner are in excellent shape, with no reported blemishes, holes, or excessive wear. There is some light wear evident in the driver's seat. The door panels and dashboard also appear in very good condition and the seller reports all the interior trim is intact and in good shape. Additionally, the gauges are said to work normally, along with the interior lights, power locks, and power windows. Even the original radio is said to be in good working order. The air conditioning system, however, is'to borrow a German word'kaput. It does not work. - - the chassis, suspension, and brake components are in very good shape, and have been maintained in stock condition, with no known issues or needs. The last suspension service was about 20 years ago, when the seller purchased the car, but the car has seen less than 10,000 miles since then. The shocks and bushings recently passed a New York state inspection, notes the seller. More recently, new reproduction TRX tires have been mounted on the stock aluminum lace-style wheels. The tires were purchased in 2016, are said to have less than 500 miles on them, and wheels are said to be in perfect condition. Additionally, the steering wheel is said to point straight when driving and there are no reported vibrations on the highway. Additional documentation for this 1987 BMW M6 Coupe includes receipts from the seller's ownership period and some from the previous owners. Lust is unquantifiable. You have it or you don't, with no scientific rationale to back it up for the afflicted. Those who've always lusted after the original M6 should find their pulses quickening with this apparently very clean example.
