Springtime Yellow was a signature color of early Mustangs, a hue that captured the promise of the youthful spirit of Ford's original pony car. This Springtime Yellow 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible was donated to Baylor University and is now offered here to raise scholarship funds for the Waco, Texas school.
The Mustang Convertible, with cold A/C and a later, modified 351 under the hood, has recently been serviced and inspected by a mechanic to ensure its roadworthiness. The Mustang will be in the Baylor Homecoming Parade on October 22, 2022, which is said to be the oldest and largest collegiate Homecoming parade in the country with an estimated 30,000 spectators. Yellow is pretty close to gold, one of Baylor's official school colors, so this Mustang should fit right in. The hope is that a generous alum will bid aggressively for this excellent cause.
The original A-code 289 V8 has been replaced by what is a 1979 351-cu.in. V8. The engine has exhaust headers and Cobra valve covers.- the previous owner described the car as a very fast hot rod. Cold starts exhibit no smoke and the engine idles well. The automatic transmission shifts well and there have been no observed leaks although there might be some old weeping on the rear axle. The car has a newer gas tank and dual exhaust. The Springtime Yellow (code 8) original color was repainted at an unknown time in the past. There are some (5-7) small paint chips and some visible surface rust on the passenger door body line and a spot on the trunk lid. The automatic convertible top is said to be newer and it works great in the seller's opinion. The glass is rated good and the seals average with no evidence of active leaks. There is a piece of acrylic covering the vents between the hood and the windshield. - This Mustang is noted as having working air conditioning and a good heater'both essentials for year-round use in Waco . The black vinyl bucket seats have some split seams but no known issues with adjustments. The carpet is faded in places but without holes or worn areas. The stereo is a newer Kenwood unit. There are no known issues with the gauges. - The suspension service history is unknown but the car was recently serviced and inspected by a mechanic who felt the car was roadworthy. The car wears Michelin Defender radial tires, sized P205/70R14 that show 2014 date codes and good tread depth. The wheels have no known issues and the chrome appears good in the photos. The car's steering exhibits only a little play, , as might be expected of a Mustang this age. Additional paperwork includes a recent Texas inspection, the original owner's car, an owner's manual, recent receipts for $1,300 in work and older receipts from prior owners that date to the 1980s and 1990s.
